Trump is trolling us with children.

So, in a few days,  Trump has given two speeches to young people which prompt the use of "hitler youth", among other phrases, to describe the event.

This is not a coincidence. I don't understand the ends though.

Ari,, Melber just said it. For trump, attention = power.  Trump is so psychologically bent, that whenever he acquires attention of any kind, and can dominate the news cycle, and get msnbc folks all excited, he feels powerful.

If you look at some of his rallies, he often has a few young males behind him pointing wildly at the camera when he taunts the media. Its deeply disturbing and I tried not to think the very phrase you used DB, but there it was. The past few days with the cheering scouts was getting into Lord of the Flies territory.

nope. Don't ever think that Steve Bannon is not behind much of this kind of crap. Trump is not a complete free agent. There are ends behind their means, even if it's just to sow confusion or disruption.

I think it is fair to say based upon the election results over time that white blue collar males, especially in the midwest once did but do not currently.

I used to listen to Limbaugh. Sometimes I'll watch Hannity. It can't be overstated how much these guys rev up their audiences to believe that people like us look down on them and want to destroy everything they value. Why wouldn't they resent us and hate us "elites"? We think of what we believe as trying to protect people's rights. Limbaugh and Hannity describe that as hatred for conservative people and attempt to wipe out their world. 

Mostly they hate a caricature of us. 

this is true, and really begs the question about who is really being demeaned and insulted by who. Liberals have faced far more scorn and ridicule from the Limbaugh wing of the party than us "liberal elites" have ever expressed for our counterparts.

But you know, for the rw, (and certain middle-of-the-roaders whose names shall be withheld) it's all about projection.
