Unrest sparked by soldiers mutinying in Ivory Coast has spread to the country’s commercial capital, Abidjan, raising fears that the world’s top cocoa producer could face sustained instability.

The west African nation, which produces 40 per cent of the world’s cocoa, is the continent’s best-performing economy and has been spared the sharp downturn caused by low commodities prices. It has become the darling of investors yanking funds and business from other African nations amid the gloomy economic prospects in resource-rich nations like Nigeria and Angola.

Finally a legitimate cause for invading a nation to stabilize markets.
