Things it took me too long to learn. Please add to the list.

Just visited my grandma in MT and set up a video camera to capture some stories and conversation.
I had planned to do this with my FIL for some time - maybe February 2013 when I had more time...he died in January and it's a great regret of mine that I never made it happen.

I'm never keeping another owner's manual, except for my car. They're all online.

If you want your kids to behave a certain way, model it for them, constantly.

The corollary is that everything I worry about in my kid I can trace directly back to myself.

Ditto that.

If you need to fix something, ask YouTube. It knows everything.

Sadly, often true of the filet mignon too.

Appreciate the finer things in life, when you can. Including vegetables.

Always look people in the eye.

Shake hands firmly.

Read.

As long as the electrician is in your house, have him/her put in extra outlets.

Don't loan money that you expect to get back.

If a man says he's too good for you, believe him and move on.

Your kid doesn't mind that they're store bought cupcakes.

He's not that into you.

What I tell my kids, said by Carole King, Christine Aguilara, Pink...each in their own way:

Farrah Fawcett's mother told her this when she was in beauty pageants, and I never forgot it: You're not two-dimensional. Look at the back of your head, too! ;-)

Wish I had paid more attention in school, especially math and geography and HISTORY. I love history now, and feel like I am playing catch-up with my learning.

If you think people should drive slowly in your neighborhood because kids live there, remember that kids live everywhere, so drive slowly in other's neighborhoods, also...

Don't expect rational reactions from irrational people...

Being a Nerd is a GOOD thing!!!

Also, I've been learning that parenting is no piece of cake, so I guess my own parents deserve a little credit!

grin Love this one! Yeah, we were horrible, our kids are horrible, their kids will be horrible. And, parents and children alike, thought we were "different."

Also, realizing that almost everything my father said and did made sense. Like when he yelled at me for laughing like a crazy kid with my friend outside at night when we were 12. We thought, "What a grinch" but he probably thought, "What rude kids!" lol. He also hated most of my boyfriends, and he was right about that, too! ;-) Wish I'd listened to a LOT of stuff he said! tongue rolleye

Don't worry, 99% of what we worry about never comes to fruition.

It's ok to say no.

True Blood is a stupid show but I still love it.

Time heals everything.

Sometimes tragedy plus time = comedy. The amount of time needed will vary.

It's not weakness to ask for help.

If you have a bucket list, start making it come true NOW. If you don't have a bucket list, start one. Live for the moment... you never know when you might run out.

Nobody should have to eat something that he hates.

Don't yell at your children for spilling. You spill too.

Stay home when you're sick.

I'm so loving everyone's stuff.

Ha! Good one!

"Let me live in a house by the side of the road..........and be a friend to man"

Ignoring a problem won't make it go away. Sins of ommission usually do far more damage than sins of commission ever could.

The price of ambition will be paid in ways one never imagined.

It's very convenient to have a small trash receptacle hanging over the back of the passenger front seat in your car.
