The Queen's Funeral and Legacy

Yeah, you missed the boat on that one.

Thank goodness. Since mjc’s and wendy’s comments were about off-stage consultation, not end-stage action, your retort was a little dinghy.

No it wasn't. They were not responsive to my point, which is that if the Queen was there or not, the legislative history of the U.K. was unchanged. Some accomplishment. Some legacy.

Am I going too fast for you? Try a motorboat.

Governors cannot take action without consultation with the monarch’s office, they represent the monarch. (Hence the whole Dismissal controversy, now revealed to be done with regal knowledge)

The Governor withheld regal assent with Queen’s knowledge.
Study constitutional law.

Even if I grant this, your whole argument for the Queen influencing legislation in the modern age comes down to one act (and only a possible one, since we don't know what the Queen's advisement was)?

Shoot, ok, granted.

It amounts to less than a hill of beans though. I assume you know that.

You are not doing your Queen any favors here. But I appreciate the effort.

The 2005 Act concerned racing, gaming (cards) and gambling and was due for ratification just before the Melbourne Cup race. The Queen was known follow that race keenly. I’m not implying anything, and I don’t know much about that legislation however I’d be highly surprised if the government Ministers hadn’t advised the Governor how ‘bad for business’ changing things so close to the race would be, and that her Majesty may have also indicated that the time for change was after the race or in the next year.

Cannot for the life of me understand why any American gives two turds about British royalty, honestly,
