The pub formerly known as O'Reilly's

Sounds like some of you people should consider joining the Elks. Come by this Friday night to catch some live music starting at 8pm for $8 and very affordable drinks. Bands are the Trip Dogs and Thingamajigs. Great night out and a great way to support local live music. Membership not required.

I would never join a club that would have me as a member.

I'm keen to see what Pickett's will have to offer. I'll keep an open mind!

And the menu of food offerings is out of sight. Literally.

With all due respect to all your opinions I found very high quality food for lunch a stone's throw from Fox and Falcon at Town Hall Deli and ate it while being entertained by all of you.

Joe's in Union on Morris Ave is great and affordable. Not as "fancy" as F&F but there are TVs and food if it's what you're after.

And FWIW, in the pictures Pickett's has posted on Instagram they show large screen TVs behind the bar the entire wall.

Also, you can get ans of beer at F&F for $4-5, so you could drink pretty cheaply there.

I know a lot of you are just looking for something to complain about behind a screen so I get it. They could be handing out free food and back massages and you'd complain the plate had too much food on it and the masseuse used too much pressure.

Is the masseuse licensed by the state? Wash hands between massages? Who knows what icky skin disease the guy on the stool next to me has?

They have Dale's Pale Ale on Tap.  That is a baller move.

Some hipsters.

Is a full beard, ridiculous hipster hat and ironic tee de rigueur.

 Not hopsters?

Went last night, but left as the place was veryyyy loud.  The ol' hard surfaces and exposed ceiling makes it impossible to hear.  When is this trend gonna end?

I believe what you refer to as "loud" is called "lively".

For the record I'm not a fan. But it seems to be trendy.

Did you have anything? Any report on beer or wine selection?

No, turned around and left, sadly.

Very loud.  I hope they do great but the noise might keep me away. $10 glass of wine.  $10 Dewars on the rocks. Not bad.  Haven’t eaten there yet.

I almost live within walking distance, but this is going to keep me away.

Went Saturday night for a drink. The place was certainly lively, though I was able to have a conversation with my wife and another couple at a normal volume, I didn't find it excessively loud. I had a Manhattan for $12 and a beer after that for $7, iirc.We didn't eat but we checked out the menu. The burger was $16, most entrees in the $20-30 range, including steak frites for, I believe, $28. Prices seemed comparable to Cassidy and Fox and Falcon. They do have a kids menu and all items appeared to be $10. Someone told me they aimed to be a place for a date night, a place to take your family for dinner and a place to watch a game (TVs everywhere). I assume one of these three things will win out. Though I suppose many of these things happen at different times, so if they can be open for lunch and dinner all day kudos to them.

Folks,

Thanks to everyone for coming this past weekend to our opening.  We appreciate your business and as long time maplewood residents we look forward to providing you with a great experience for many years to come at Pickett's Village Bar.   We are super proud of our drink and food menu and want to give you exceptional service every time you join us.   We also love your feedback and will constantly strive to listen and adapt when we can including some of your concerns about the sound levels.    We have acoustical sound panels on the ceilings with special sound absorbing dry wall but some of it is the nature of a packed house.   We will however be going further to help with this issue by adding more sound reducing materials throughout the restaurant.

We are also excited to be adding our outside patio and lunch menu in the near future.   Along with live music coming this summer.

If you have any questions or want to chat please stop down and enjoy a drink with me or my GM Nick Ciccone.   We're there most of the time.   Thanks again.

Cheers,

Doug Sasfai

Isn't that the place we need to boycott because they are running a misinformation campaign against Sheena Collum? See SO-FD Election thread

Yes.  We will be expanding our hours on the weekends very soon.  Thx.

Dude.  We will be in now that the initial salvo has been overcome.  A little bird told me you guys scored some Turley zin for the wine list, amongst some other gems.  Already ahead of the game there.  This might happily become problematic.

Pls. post when patio is opened.

 Everything is within walking distance.

How about weekend brunch? There are many brunch freaks around here, myself included.

I think they're leading up to lunch and brunch in near future - opens at 4 pm for now.

I live in Maplewood. I have watched and participated in Maplewood politics for a very long time. I almost can't even imagine boycotting a business in Maplewood because the owner favored a different candidate.
I have recommended that out-of-town visitors consider staying at Les Sessions, the B&B operated by Trump supporter Art Christensen.

Not sure what this has to do with Pickett's.

And, I would never subject visitors to a Trump supporter.
