I’m not sure what the lesson would be - this could have potentially happened in any building, new or old, with windows.

The lesson is close your darn drapes or move to an inner part of your apartment before taking off
all your clothes. This is not something that need be told to an adult

To be fair, to my knowledge no postal employees ever undressed in the front window

If they did they would have been giving a show to the shoppers on Maplewood Ave and the patrons of Kings,
which we tried so desperately to keep in the Village............Oh wait, they are still here....aren't they.
Slippery slope. One minute you're watching your neighbors out the window, the next minute Raymond Burr shows up in your living room.

We all live in a shared space. Many of us have encountered problems with next door (or next window) neighbors who have engaged in legal activities with their own property that we find disruptive to our own lives. Posters on this board have complained of barking dogs, invasive perimeter lighting, leaf blower noise, motorists parking too close to their driveway (when legal to do so), etc.
The normal reaction, where there is no ordinance prohibiting the activity, is to either speak with the neighbor if it is reasonable to ask the neighbor to desist from the activity or to adjust one's own space/activities to react to the new reality. In this case, your neighbor can easily resolve the problem by installing/using a window shade or equivalent and using a lamp for reading during time intervals when this activity occurs.

Joan..........there are quite nice shades installed for all the residential windows. They are tasteful
and effective..........However our exhibitionist friend simply did not lower them.
To stand there naked in front of a window that has shades installed is just a bit much.
I have seen tons of unexplained behavior in my time...........but this was not necessary
even if a person can't move away from their window, they don't have to keep looking at the neighbor across the way. That said, if this is a unsolvable problem, the neighbor should contact building management and ask them to speak to the guy about undressing away from the windows.

No one here believes that.
I had a neighbor (tenant) who used to, uh, pleasure himself every evening while watching TV in front of an un-draped window. Luckily, it was only through one window that I could see it. I started avoiding that window in the evenings. BUT I would never blame the owner of the home he rented in for this.

Is there a shade for the window the woman was looking out of?
"... out of which she was looking?"
There are people that would pay good money for what she’s getting free.
I imagine the “show” only lasts for a bit. Surely she can find the power to avert her eyes from the offending person who is doing what every human does at some point in their own home.
Or, we could freak out I guess. Either or.
This is a regular occurrence with one of our immediate neighbors. We have told them we can see them, and they apparently don't care. So then, neither do we.
EDITED TO ADD: The point being, this situation has absolutely nothing to do with the Clarus Building.
not to mention it is not illegal to parade around naked in your own apartment. The nosy neighbor can look at other windows, the parking lot, the people walking around, etc.
When I lived in the east village, nobody had shades and many walked around naked in their apartments. unwritten rule was to never stare at your neighbor's window. Problem is not the naked person or the new building -- it is the neighbor staring into other apartments.

I am not blaming the owners there.......as a matter of fact I commend them for renting the apartments
with the shades already installed. Only one person at fault

Absolutely........she should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for looking out her window

Never said it was the fault of the C building. As a matter of fact I complemented them on their tasteful
building installed shades. It is one single tenant who acts as if he has strudel in his noodle
It’s not illegal to stare at people’s covered anatomy either but it is in extremely poor taste.
Best advice I’ve gotten on that, which applies here, is to treat anything that may present itself before you as you’d treat the sun. Look at it just long enough to acknowledge it’s presence and radiance, then look away before any damage can be done.

Actually your are right. But I have kept my silence lately and found this just unacceptable behavior

Looking or staring ? she can look out all she wants. she can look into the apartments but if she does not like something just look at something else, but nice try at twisting words.

Fortunately we have only one little girl in the building and since she lives on the other side facing towards
Wells Fargo etc..........she will not be exposed to his "sun"
The person is doing it on purpose. If your neighbor is upset about it, suggest that she keep her eyes in her book (you said she reads a lot), focus her eyes on something else, or wheel away from the window at that moment. It's not helpful to get emotionally bent out of shape over something you can't control. But she can control her own reaction.

Ah for the days when we could look out our windows and not have to turn away from the sight of a naked
homo sapien
and you claim it is not about the new building but yet your thread title says otherwise.
And nobody has to turn away --- they can look but your "friend" is the one complaining about what they see.

I thought I had pretty much exhausted all comments regarding the C building until now.
My building, Village Coffee sits directly across the parking lot from the new one........maybe 150 ft separating them.
My neighbor upstairs is partially disabled and has a difficult time with our stairs. I will frequently make a trip downstairs to our mail box area, pick up her mail and bring it up to her
Yesterday she was visibly upset. It seems like one of our new neighbors over there decided to disrobe
and then slowly get dressed.......all the while standing in front of their large windows and not bothering
to lower the shade. She got an unwanted lesson in anatomy and lack of common sense.
Since she is disabled she spends much time reading and or staring out the window watching life on Maplewood Ave. And now a new element has been added
I know there is a new comer manual given to the tenants over there. It explains that the building has
filtered air, filtered water, custom fit shades etc. I hope the next edition explains that the shades
work best when lowered for privacy
Somewhere there is both a lesson and a joke in this , but they escape me
