I guess NK is not privy to BCC's advice to ignore what is said and focus only on what is done.
What he has done is to commend Kim, thank him for release of the hostages, at the same time taking them to task for attacks on Pence, and other comments, and, most importantly, left wide open the suggestion of a future meting.
In stead of cherry picking what I said why don't you post the rest, or don't you recognize a bargaining position when you see it?
NK is doing the same.

Bargaining position?  Are you ******* serious?  There is no bargaining common ground.  Kim wants nukes, regime survival and relaxation of sanctions.  The first two points are non-negotiable.

Even with this he can't stop boasting about the size of his dick.

Trump confused our ally, South Korea. Progress!

"We are attempting to make sense of what, precisely, President Trump means," says spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom.

Still trying to find all the "progress" you've been lauding about.

We've been asked by some not to re-post lengthy posts because it makes it very difficult to read on a smart phone.

The point I was trying to make is that what is said is important. An exchange of words led to cancellation.

What he does or what he says?

Is it possible that NK and SK have become less antagonistic toward each other throughout this mess? And China? What a gift Trump has been to their efforts to rise in international influence.

I'm sure that diplomats on each side have had more than a few laughs about Trump. Maybe that's the strategy: Make the US their common enemy.

At the same time Trump was saying the deal could go wrong, over and over again.

So I should pay attention to what he says?

You are confusing me.

Yep. Still can't find progress in that, either.

Perhaps Trump doesn't have the slightest idea what he is doing and lacks the foundational intelligence and diligence to manage such a fraught and complex relationship.

GL2 said:
Geez, given the combined wisdom of Trump, Bolton, and Pence, together with the past practices of the Kims, how could this thing have fallen apart?

But, but . . . I already ordered the commemorative coin.  I wonder if it'll work in slot machines.   grrr  You gotta love The Donald.  Whenever he senses that things are going south he likes to be the first to pull out in order to save face.

Does he sign government documents with a sharpie?  Why would someone do that?

Trump's signature resembles a KKK rally.

Trump once again showing his trademark persevering application in calling off stuff over petty ****.

In this situation Trump could have chosen to cherry pick or ignore the words or use them to justify his position.

He had numerous options which I needn't list here. He chose not to ignore them but to react as I have noted. He gained a bargaining position and as noted, the ball is in Kim's court.

How NOKO will respond should be interesting.

it's simple.  The reasons aren't important, but we should all stop criticizing Trump.  You should not criticize him if he says stuff you don't like because it's just empty words.  But if says stuff you should like, it's important words that you shouldn't criticize.

 What if they don't?

Its pretty funny, you can tell that he actually wrote (or, more likely, dictated) the letter.  It sounds like it was composed by a sixth grader.

Holy cow that's an embarrassing letter.  How is it that every American isn't deeply ashamed with how our president writes and speaks?  Agree with him or disagree, he writes like a simpleton.

And I'd say it's probably more accurate to say that Trump has lobbed the ball into South Korea's court, not North Korea's.

The Latest: South Korea trying to figure out Trump's aim

Because it's not like NK to use incendiary language. Totally unexpected! (And this was a nice touch, don't you think? "You talk about your nuclear capabilities, but ours are so massive and powerful that I pray to God they will never have to be used.”)

And I'm sure not notifying SK of this abrupt cancellation was all part of the strategy.

Now what?   How does Trump ramp up pressure?  How far is he willing to go with the stick, the carrot having failed (for now).

I still think it's a bit creepy if you tell a hostage taker that releasing the hostages was a "beautiful gesture".

Trump's on the TV. He's got that weird orange-face-except-for-the-eyes thing going on again.

What a strange-o.

he has the smallest vocabulary imaginable.  He only has a few words at his disposable to describe it, so it was either "beautiful," "great," "spectacular," or "terrific."  Unfortunately a word like "encouraging" would be out of his reach.

I hear the military is redesigning the US nuclear button so that it can only be pushed by someone with normal adult sized hands.  Who can argue with this attempt to make the nuclear arsenal child safe?

If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we make a fake tan the right color? For that matter, how many older men have orange hair as well. What's the deal with this color? Any stylists out there? smile

Trump's letter was a disgrace. Losers of major wars show more dignity and self-respect.

GL2 said above:  "Kim, or 'Mr. Un,' as Pompeo called him"

Is this true?  Our Secretary of State, right?

Also GL2:  "If we can put a man on the moon, why can't we make a fake tan the right color?"

 oh oh seriously needed this

Kim played him beautifully. He made Trump walk away from the table, so he comes off looking great. Plus there is no way China will keep sanction pressure a the same level now. It's terrible for the people of North Korea, but I find this whole thing pretty funny actually.
