Not that either source has any ethics, but I thought this was interesting.

Marianne Gingrich has said she could end her ex-husband's career with a single interview.

Earlier this week, she sat before ABCNEWS cameras, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

She spoke to ABCNEWS reporter Brian Ross for two hours, and her explosive revelations are set to rock the trail.

But now a "civil war" has erupted inside of the network, an insider claims, on exactly when the confession will air!

ABCNEWS suits determined it would be "unethical" to run the Marianne Gingrich interview so close to the South Carolina Primary, a curious decision, one insider argued, since the network has aggressively been reporting on other candidates.

A decision was tentatively made to air the interview next Monday, after all votes have been counted.

Gingrich canceled a press conference on Wednesday to deal with the matter.

"He believes that what he says in public and how he lives don't have to be connected," Marianne Gingrich, Newt's wife of 18 years, explained to ESQUIRE last year.

UPDATE: The AP reports ABC is now likely to air the segment Thursday on NIGHTLINE.

NEW YORK (AP) - An ABC News executive tells The Associated Press that the network has interviewed Newt Gingrich's second wife and is likely to air the segment Thursday on "Nightline."
That's two days before the South Carolina primary, where the Republican presidential candidate is trying to topple GOP front-runner Mitt Romney.

The ABC News executive did not indicate what the ex-wife, Marianne, said in the interview and spoke on the condition of anonymity because the plans for airing the interview were tentative.

The ex-wife has said Gingrich proposed to her before the divorce from his first wife was final in 1981. Her marriage to Gingrich ended in divorce in 2000. Gingrich admitted he'd already taken up with Callista Bisek, his third wife.

Gingrich has said he has no relationship with his second wife.

Honestly, I think this is ridiculous.

Rastro, you're divorced.... Do you think your ex would say glowing things about you?

I find this is very bad taste and I wonder what the former Mrs. has to gain.

I'm sure it will make for interesting fodder for the left.

Glowing? No. But I doubt she would have anything bad to say. But my divorce was incredibly amicable.

My interest in this is not political. It puerile. It's the same reason people watch Jersey Shore or all that other crap on TV.

And what does she have to gain? She gets to ruin a man who dumped her when something better came along. Plus she might be getting a penny or two for the interview.

BTW, you can try to pin this on the left, but those bits above are from less than evenhanded sites. And I don't mean commies.

I did not " pin this on the left" I said it should make interesting fodder for the left.

This is clearly a woman scorned with an axe to grind. She is looking for her 15 minutes and probably a nice payout. Therefore, I would take everything she says with a grain of salt.

I highly doubt what she will say would fall into the category of " jilted spouse" or woman scorned. It wouldn't be newsworthy. It won't be the basic stuff like he cheated, he was messy, etc. I am sure this woman has something more substantive to say that she feels will and should impact how this man is perceived. And, no, most divorced people I know ,even those who were cheated on, would not stand in the way of thenspouse's career or destroy his/ her reputation. There is generally still a level of decency & respect there.

I wonder what interest ABC has in Newt losing the South Carolina Primary...

I am divorced for 20 years and my ex husband is one of my closest friend. Not only would we be working on each others campaigns we would have glowing things to say about each other and we wouldnt lie.

The public already knows Newt cheated on wife 1 and wife 2. Wife 1 has also consistently stated that he lied about the papers served in the hospital story and for years he made her out to be a lier, had his daughters minds brainwashed. Daughters who vouched for him yet recently did have to admit they werent even in the room at the time and now that the divorce decree finally surfaced it turns out the woman didnt lie at all but gee whiz it was Newt who had it wrong all along....surprise surprise.

His first wife pretty much has said the same thing about Newt on several occassions...that she could end his carrier but her problem was and is that her daughters who work for daddy dearest would really never speak another word with her.

The guy is a scum...some might like his politics and thats all well and fine but as a person he is what he is.

Has anyone heard anything from Newt's gay half sister? Or is she keeping a low profile? I admit, I'm in the gutter too, my interest is purely puerile. And am thrilled to death about this development in the Jersey Shore Republican Primary Reality Show. I have Partisan Schadenfreude.

Were Newt not so deserving of whatever savaging he gets, he might be a more sympathetic character. Newt is human garbage, apart from his party affiliation.

Charming guy:

"ABC Chief Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross, told WMAL's Morning Majority program that Marianne Gingrich claims her ex-husband wanted an 'open marriage.'
"He came to her and said, 'I want to stay married to you and still have an affair with Calista, his current wife," said Ross. "According to Marianne, he said 'You need to share me,' and she said 'I don't want to share,' and the marriage ended," he added."

I usually do not care about someone's personal life. But occasionally it does seem relevant and this strikes me as one of those occasions.

I doubt this will change anyone's mind about him. He's already a known serial adulterer. Yes, this adds a bit of lasciviousness, but is anyone really going to say "Gee, I was ok with him cheating on his wives, but asking one for an open marriage? That's where I draw the line."

Definitely.

What a dick. I don't have a problem with consenting adults agreeing to that kind of arrangement (it's not my business), but I can't take the hypocrisy of his then going on to fight against the rights of same-sex couples because they're somehow destroying the sanctity of traditional marriage.

If this is all she has, it's all hype and substance. This will not affect enough votes to change the standins in SC or any other state.

I can't believe Gingrich is really leading Romney in SC.

Just yesterday, Romney was Mr. Trifecta. Today, he about to be 1-for-3, only winning in his own backyard.

Perry dropping out will make it a lot closer.

It is only a matter of time before someone makes a Mormon joke about this one.

Personally, I totally discount anything an ex says that is not documentable. Further, we already know Newt is an admitted adulterer. I can't see how this does anything more than that to harm him with those who would care about it. For the rest, it is mostly background noise--they either already like him or already hate him. He is not a guy prone to having people in the middle ground with regards to his personality.

He's like Christie in terms of his style* and there is a certain segment of the population that absolutely loves it. They are counting on Newt to "stick it" to Obama. Red meat to the masses and all that. I can't stand it, but it's a style that is well loved by some.

*Not that I think Christie comes close to Newt in terms of odiousness. I definitely do not.

I'm not a huge Newt fan, but he has been married to this one for 20 years already.

I love it!

I'm not a huge fan Newt fan, but he is a Republican so I will grasp at anything in his defense.

No he hasn't. He was married to #2 for 20 years. He's been married to #3 for about 11 years. And he was married to #1 for 19 years. So the current one is the shortest so far.

So hard to keep them all straight......

Yes, he has. But it was Marianne who was at fault. Callista had no problem with the mistress thing. Marianne's such a prude. And when you've got a hunk of man like Newt, you gotta share.

Just think: Newt could be standing at the podium with both women behind him.

I hear he left the friggin cap off the toothpaste too!! Bastage!

Honestly, this woman is an idiot. SHE cheats with him while he is still married, married him & is surprised he cheats on HER!

He has owned up to his douchebaggery as a husband.

The only ones who will jump all over this are the people who insisted Clinton's issues were private and none of anyone's business.

How many times must we say this before conservatives understand? If "family values" Republicans like Gingrich didn't take a holer-than-thou attitude, it wouldn't be such a problem.
