Switching from Verizon to T-Mobile

Has anyone changed their wireless service from Verizon to T-Mobile, and if so are you happy with the service? I am getting tired of the high fees with Verizon and T-Mobile is significantly less expensive. I don't want to compromise service greatly by making the move though. Thanks!

I've been a happy customer of TMobile since before they were TMobile - when they were Voicestream. My service is fine where I live (Tuscan school area) and where I work (Jersey City) and is fine for my son who lives and works in L.A. Coverage is always improving but if you have to have service under the tunnel from Penn to NJ you won't have it.

Best part of TMobile is the customer service and the helpfulness overall and the fact that they will work with you on the best price/plan for your needs. And no overages on data use - you'll just be ratcheted down if that happens.

Edited to say that I didn't ever have Verizon wireless although I do use Verizon as a FIOS customer and I can't complain about their customer service in that area these days. Usually quite good and competent but as with all these things, it's hit or miss.

we have had t-mobile for many years.

There has always been a trouble spot/dead zone in the area of Elmwood/Lancaster/midland although I haven't tested it in awhile.

Also, it's been a few years but we definitely had trouble upstate in the Woodstock/Saugerties area.

But, aside from this, with wifi more readily available, I'm perfectly content, esp considering the price difference. (And for a plan with 5 phones, we are already paying a lot.)

It's probably been 12 or 13 years since we changed from T-Mobile to VZW, so our experience may be completely irrelevant. But we were T-Mobile customers for years until we moved to Maplewood (from PA). We live in the dead zone shh mentioned above, and we had absolutely zero signal in or near our house, as well as many dead spots in Maplewood village. It was perfectly fine in the city, of course.

Again maybe not relevant, but our families are in NC. Traveling down and back there were VERY LARGE swaths of I-81 and I-77 in VA and NC where there was no coverage. Basically anywhere not a city or large town was a problem area.

I miss Verizon Wireless's service, but not their exorbitant prices. I switched to T-Mobile many years ago when they had an unbeatable price of $30/month (100 minutes/month, unlimited text and data) which I maintain today.  Since I rarely use my cell phone, it's not a problem for me.

However, if you have Comcast/Xfinity, you can now use your cell phone via your landline for no extra cost, and just pay for monthly data.

ive had T-mobile for 15 years. Reception has only gotten better over that time. However, still no service many times in tunnels to NYC. Service soft spots in the reservation and dog park. Cross country large areas in TX, OK, NM, NV and AZ have only E service or none at all. Internationally its great and offers free or low cost data and roaming.

helpful. I'm thinking of switching too. I need a true unlimited plan ( no slow down after certain amount of data). Have a data hog on my plan

Thank you everyone for your feedback! Most helpful.
