"And a little child shall lead them"............Thr Society of the White Rose

Wow. Powerful.

Had heard of this through historical fiction; glad to read this.

Thank you @author for this timely and inspirational story. I'll be sharing it today on my FB page. Despite my struggle with rose gardening due to my friends the deer, I'm going to plant a white rose bush again in remembrance.

What happened in Germany is difficult to understand.  There was a tiny group of people who stood up for their beliefs.  A larger group just tried to keep a low profile, but the majority were involved.  Too many simply placed blind faith in the state and it's leader, and never questioned anything.  Some were blind loyalists and/or fanatic nazis, others were pressured into the various organizations, and got in over their heads.

After the war many proclaimed that they did not know what was going on.  And yet, I spent one afternoon reading in the archives at Bergen-Belsen (where Anne Frank and her sister perished).

The sister of one young woman camp guard (Irma Grese, 'The Hyena') testified after the war, that when her sister came home wearing the guard uniform, her father threw her out of the house.  I don't know what position her father held, but he obviously knew.

Irma was hanged by the British for her crimes as a camp guard.  She had been very brutal, and was barely 22 when executed.
