Solid Wood doors

Does anyone know what I can do with about 10-15 solid wood doors from 1920;s home?

Sell or give them away on Swap Meet SOMA.

Swap Meet sounds like a good place to start. I'm sure there are many people who would love to have old solid doors.

I would look up and call salvage places in NJ. See what they are worth and if they would pick them up. Can be quite valuable depending on condition etc.

We've seen so many "flips" lately where the renovators had put in cheap hollow plastic doors. There's probably a lot of new buyers who would appreciate the chance to get something better.

Contact these guys.  Two Guys From Newstead.  Store location near Columbia H.S.  Maybe they'd want them.  http://pickersnj.com/

I could tell you from my own renovation that buying new solid wood five panel doors are not at all cheap. Hundreds of dollars each. I cry when I see them in a dumpster or on the curb.

Years ago, over the course of a summer,  I paint-stripped all of the upstairs solid oak doors in my home (at least fours coats of paint, -like going back in time through the colors) stained and poly'd them. It was a tremendous amount of meticulous labor but well worth it as it completely and favorably changed the character of the place. My wife said "Oh they just glow!" (this is not a woman generally prone to flattery -ha).

I did that as well in my last house.  Backbreaking work, but worth it.

They are absolutely worth $$.    Assuming they are fairly standard widths and haven't been planed to a point where they are ridiculously short... figure $200 at the low end per door if you were buying from a salvage place.   So maybe half that if you are selling.
