Searching for an internist/PCP in the area

My terrific internist has decided to leave her Barnabas practice to "pursue other opportunities."  So, now I am needing a replacement. Ideally, my new PCP would be within the Barnabas system, well-trained and talented, female, and take Cigna  just like my departing one. I came across a couple of names of docs I don't know-Nancy Freundlich in Millburn and Donna Chrisanderson in Maplewood. Anyone know anything about these two?  Can you recommend your favorites?

Your old one is Dr. Bulan?

Yes.  Do you have any idea where she went?? I might track her down.

I recently went thru this.   If you go on the Barnabas website and play with criteria, such as Cigna insurance, you then find a large list of doctors.  I then cross-referenced them with ZOCDOC, Healthgrades and other references.  Plus I asked doctors I liked for their  recommendations, which was more hit or miss, than I thought it would be.

I ended up going to BHMG - Premier Primary Care, at 200 South Orange Ave for Dr. Vanessa Trespalacious and Dr. Silvai Pinel Villalobos. I have seen both and have been very satisfied with the practice.  I know there are other practices in the same location, again with Barnabas doctors, that also do primary care.

Dr. Barbara Nahas is on old Short Hills Rd. Very likeable and upbeat. I've been seeing her for a couple of years.

Dr Bulan -whom I absolutely love-is leaving St Barnabas and joining another group. I think she is under contract not to disclose where she is going. When I get her new number, I will share it.

I'm not a lawyer, but i would think if you called her old office and insisted on her phone number, they would be obliged to give it to you.

Thank you for that info.  I will definitely call and request her information. And thank you for passing on the number when you get it. I have been so happy with her. I also appreciate the recommendations of other posters. It is good to have options and I will call them if I strike out with Dr. Bulan's old office.

Let us know if/when you find out.

I used my non-google-fu-connections-and-rumor-fu to look into this. It's a little prickly at the moment, but she'll be leaving the St. Barnabas System and joining the Atlantic Health Care System.

As you have observed, there is concern about patient migration, and the legalities of the communication of new affiliation (solicitation vs. informational) are being ironed out.

An office is being built for her use in Westfield and it appears that will be her only location. (Sorry Florham Park patients!) It doesn't exist yet, so there's no address or phone number, but you can stay tuned to the Atlantic Health website, or just google her every so often.

So, hang in there and you can keep your doctor, but you might have to adjust your hospital affiliation, although I don't know if she will follow her patients in the hospital or use the Atlantic Health Care Hospitalist group.

The whole thing seems like it's going to take some time. I suggest people consider switching to a different person at her old group for urgent things while you wait. That way, if you choose to follow her, you'll only be forwarding one chart, and maybe you'll find someone you like, and you'll decide to stay.

I hope that helps

Thanks for your work on all of this. It seems to be that there may be a few of us on MOL who will be following her to her new office when it eventually opens. There is a very good NP at the old office who I can see if need be for the time being.

Thanks. Please report back any sightings.

It's really a sad commentary that people have to be sneaky in order to keep their doctors.

Dr Bulan is taking appts at her new location

Yahoo! Thanks MsSumida and everyone who has been so helpful. I called and they added me as her patient and are sending me the form they need to get my records from her old office. Whew! I feel very relieved.
