Searching census by address

I know a few years back someone posted a link to the 1940 census where you searched by address.  I'm looking for the same thing, except for the 1920 census.  The census records on Ancestry.com are listed by name, but I'm trying to find someone by looking at a two block area to see if I can find them

I clicked the link, but I'm not finding the 1920 census searchable by address on there.

Clink on "Census Links by Year" on the left side of the page. All they have will be listed on that page. It doesn't look like 1920 has same search capabilities as 1940 or 1930.

You can get the map of the enumeration districts and find the range of pages that you'll have to sort through, but I don't think there is a way to search by exact address.

Damn. I’m looking for a person who for the most part spent her entire life in a 2 block radius. I’m not finding her in 1920, and was hoping I could scan through Spring St and 8th Ave in Newark to see if I could find here there, as the census taker may have written the name down incorrectly

Turns out, I was somewhat incorrect since I last searched the 1940 census in 2015, my apologies!

It looks like you can search by street here: https://1940census.archives.gov/search/#searchby=location&searchmode=browse&year=1940

It'll save you having to pour over enumeration district maps.

So I had a brain fart and forgot that I knew one relative who was living on 8th in 1920, so I started there and searched forwards and backwards.  Missing relative and her two children are still missing. She shows up in Millburn in 1930 with one child, second child shows up in 1940 in Newark

You can join Ancestry.com for a month and research their databases. They are using the same census data but they also have social security data, birth certificates, death certificates, cemetery data, etc.

I've searched Ancestry forwards and backwards. But with Ancestry you can't search by address.  I forgot that other family was living in the same neighborhood, so I went to their entry and looked forwards and backwards from there.

I did find someone in East Orange with the same name who was a live in servant, but there was one other resident of NJ with the same name and of a similar age, so I can't be sure the East Orange person is her
