Granddaughter in Tampa, caught up in Hurricane, needs a little financial aid. Anyone use Venmo cash bank to bank transfer?

Yes, I pay my kids and other people with Venmo. It can be a pain to set up but once it's set, it's easy and safe.

My tenants use Venmo to pay rent. No problems with it. There can be a delay between when the transfer is initiated and when the money lands in the recipient's bank account. For me, it's normally the next business day. Whereas when I do transfers with family members who use the same bank (we all use USAA), the money transfers instantly.

If she has a bank account Pay with Zelle is free. It used to be Chase QuickPay for me but most major banks  (BofA, CapOne use it now. It's same day cash too.

I use Venmo with the kid and have had no problems..Fairly easy to my suprise

Not knowing her specific situation (the apocalypse does not take American Express) you could just send her your credit card number to be loaded into Apple/Google pay. Only makes sense if there's a day delay with the other suggestions.

Use it pretty much every day. For all sorts of reasons. Pay kids' music teacher. Pay allowance. Split a bill. Reimburse someone.

I've used it a little. It looks good, except the privacy settings are crazy. It says things like Joe paid Mary for lunch and so on. Why do I want to publicize whom I'm paying and for what? So be sure to set that the way you want it.

can a payment be directed to a credit card company or landlord?

lol. That's exactly why young people like it -- for the social component. PayPal has had this function for at least 10 years, but it didn't catch on as much as Venmo.

But you can keep your transactions private. You have to set it to visible to participants only. It can be done as a blanket setting for all transactions.

SquareCash also works well, just like venmo without the social media aspect.

Paypal owns Venmo and what people said about the privacy settings are true. Many leave them open and that's how Venmo sort of expects to make money per some article I Googled about it a few days ago after I saw this thread and was curious about it given that my son and so many others of his generation uses it.

If they use Venmo. You can call to pay a credit card company with just your checking account number.

I'd just ask the landlord what s/he wants to do. Maybe they'll accept bits of string this month.

ETA: Paying through your bank account with Zelle is probably easiest for the landlord assuming they have a US-based bank account.

Maybe I'm just an old fart, but I really don't get why I'd ever want Venmo to post on my Facebook feed "Weirdbeard just paid [bookie] $50!"   So I turned off that feature.
