Wrestlers finishing in 1st to 8th in the tournament are considered All Americans. Ten weight classes times eight wrestlers equals 80 All Americans. So, from NJ: 12 All Americans with 4 champion. Rutgers Coach Scott Goodale named NWAC Coach of the year.
You may have seen the news about the high numbers of kids in the Maplewood youth wrestling program. Wrestling is alive and well in NJ.
A tremendous result for Rutgers and NJ has some of the best high school wrestling in the country. After the NCAA championships in the Garden a few years back were such a success, it would be great to see a concerted effort to bring them to Newark.
