Rutgers Wrestling Two National Champs

from Bob Roe:   Way to go Rutgers.  Two national wrestling champs.  For those who do not follow wrestling, you should know that NJ is one of the best wrestling states in the nation. Big Ten and universities around the country are filled with NJ wrestlers.

Wrestlers finishing in 1st to 8th in the tournament are considered All Americans.   Ten weight classes times eight wrestlers equals 80 All Americans.   So, from NJ:  12 All Americans  with 4 champion.   Rutgers Coach Scott Goodale named NWAC Coach of the year.

You may have seen the news about the high numbers of kids in the Maplewood youth wrestling program.   Wrestling is alive and well in NJ.

A tremendous result for Rutgers and NJ has some of the best high school wrestling in the country. After the NCAA championships in the Garden a few years back were such a success, it would be great to see a concerted effort to bring them to Newark.

Four championships in a row for Penn State and eight of the last nine.
