Rusty Warren, Belle Barth

Did your parents have the records and you were kicked out of the room when guests came over and they played them?

Who remembers, "Knockers Up?"

I'm not familiar with those names. My parents were real Lefties so I heard  a lot of Harry Belafonte, Leonard Bernstein, Tom Lehrer, Bob Newhart, Mort Sahl, Vaughan Meder ("The First Family"), and Bill Dana "(Jose Jimenez").

I recently found on Spotify a record from 1954 by Harry Belafonte that my parents listened to a lot. I think it was a 10" LP.  Called "Mark Twain and other Folk Favorites." I listened to it last week and nearly broke down in sobs.

They were records, slightly bawdy. Quite tame by today's standards. My uncle had a couple of them and we would play them when cousin's folks weren't around....figure we were 12 or 13 at the time.

Once in a while, one of us will break out in song - usually one of Rusty's and then laugh like hell at the memories.

Jokes from them.  "The navy just launched Nautilus, an atomic powered sub. Now they are planning a second sub, to be crewed entirely by women. It will be called, The Nut-less. (Cymbal crash)

Woman who wears jock-strap has Make Believe Ballroom (M.B.B. was the title of a radio program in the 50's.)

I guess you had to have been there.

 Uh, yeah, I guess.

Redd Foxx had a bunch of dirty records back in the day but I never heard them. More recently, BLOWFLY (Clarence Reid) had a career of putting out really nasty and funny songs. I saw him live once at Asbury Lanes. Sadly he died in 2016.

Here's a rather tame example. (tame but still NOT SAFE FOR WORK!)  Go to YouTube for more Blowfly fun and filth.
