Steven - I think you meant to say Alejandro Escovedo. He is so great! I don't know why he wasn't the headline act. I agree about the volume with Rusted Root. It was ridiculous.
I thought rusted root was fantastic.
we were sitting near the top of the hill and it was awesome.! (and not too loud for us)

Treetops, you're right, Alejandro was great and should have topped the bill. He actually seemed let down at the end of his set that he could not play more. He had everyone on their feet enjoying his music.
I sat near people who talked through all the music and seemed oblivious to the fact that it was a concert, so I liked it when they cranked the volume.

Except it isn't a concert, it's a festival. If you want to sit in the dark in your tux in silence, there are venues for that. This was a bit more relaxed.
But cheers to the complaint thread, an MOL special.

Thanks Max for the snark. It wouldn't be MOL without snark. I can certainly understand wanting to catch up with friends, just not during every single song. Hence, why I said I appreciated it when they raised the volume for RR.
I thought Rusted Root was amazing but I was concerned about the toddlers in front of the speakers with their parents.
Maybe it was where one was sitting - I didn't find the noise too loud at all. And I was up near the front for part their set, and on a blanket just in front of the row of canopies for part. But, I am admittedly a Rusted Root fan - I used to go see them in Pittsburgh clubs/bars when they were first starting out in the early '90s. I think they are incredible.
On Saturday night when we arrived (the set before the Wailers), the noise was way too loud for my 3 year old nieces, on any part of the hill, so we found a spot behind the stage across the creek. I was off getting food but the rest of my gang got to see the Wailers arrive through the backstage "door", and we took turns going across the bridge to the crowd to watch them. They were fabulous.
I thought it was great, both nights. Thanks, Maplewoodstock!

Sorry to say that the headliner was a big disappointment for us. I don't know if we are getting old, but it was just loud, and it took several songs for them to get their mics working. We were down front and looked back several times and noticed an awful lot of people sitting in their seats. Not a good thing to see at a rock show. We left early. Can still hear them playing - the first time all weekend that the sound is making it up to the reservation.
Rest of the show was fantastic! Well organized and great variety. The Wailers had us rocking last night as did the third or fourth from last band with the crazy long name. And Sandoval had everyone rocking tonight. Can't wait until next year.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in putting in on.
