Rubio Out

Suppose after the thrashing in FL that was inevitable.

Out of words, that is. That was a looooong way of saying that he ran a crappy campaign and lacks substance.

Interesting that he's not running for his seat in the Senate.

If Rubio ran for his senate seat, he would lose. He's been a disappointment for his constituents.

Except Miami Dade, apparently.  Or at least they really don't like Trump.

Nearly half of the Cubans (48%) live in this county—Miami-Dade County.

I listened to part of his speech.  He went on and on about how great his parents were and how much it meant for them to come to this country.  Meanwhile in the last debate he said he would not let them in if they came now.  No thanks.

He was elected because too many Floridians voted for the "R" after his name.

Having had him as senator, it seems, they got to know their light weight better. So much being the rising Republican star.

Let this be a lesson to other states that think it's a good idea to change to a winner-take-all primary to support their hometown candidate.  LOL

I thought his concession speech was his best yet -- very heartfelt and with far more conviction than his robotic, cliche filled stump speeches IMHO. Not a Rubio fan particularly, I do think he will grow into a stronger candidate in another campaign.

Whatever one thinks of Trump, it is obvious his reads the American voter clearly -- their anger, disappointment and sense of being left out. It seems they are not looking for government handouts and fixes -- the very embodiments of HRC and Bernie platforms. I wonder if the message is getting to them.

With a 68 percent disapproval rate in the latest opinion poll on Hilliary's trustworthiness, I think the DNC has lots of work to do.

For more than a year, the Republicans had been crowing about how they had a incredibly "deep bench" of great 2016 presidential candidates. And now that's where they all are...on the bench.

I think I need a drink of water

One takeaway from this campaign is that Rubio loses well.

Running for President was a bad career move. He was exposed as a not so bright lightweight.

Here's a guy who was elected to preside over the Florida assembly. His first speech before that body was a sermon on how the word of The Lord takes precedence over decisions of the Supreme Court.

Good Riddance, Little Marco.

He also said he thanks God every day that George W. Bush was President on 9/11.  Even Trump hasn't said something that dumb.  B-Bye Marco.

Just as well he's out.  We have plenty of evidence that a first term senator would make a terrible president.

So, you're a Trump fan, then?

Nice try, but that's a bit of a leap.  Heck no.  Sanders was the only candidate that could have even come close to making me pull the lever for Trump.  Fortunately that seems highly unlikely now. Phew!

Trump is probably the only candidate that would make me pull the lever for Hillary.  Although Cruz could possibly do the same.

I am hoping for an alternative to any of the three, but I doubt I'll get one.

how does lack of evidence = plenty of evidence?

oh. right. conservative mind at work.

another campaign? the guys dead meat. He has no substantive record, and his attempt for bigger office failed spectacularly (second only to Jeb's collapse this year).

My prediction - he'll end up being the manager of a McDonald's somewhere. Maybe a Wendy's.

Also, Trump reads a rather small percentage of the voting population correctly. It's only the incredible weakness of the Republican party that has led to his success.

It was just that the "first term senator" description applies to more than one GOP candidate, but I see that you're not a fan of any of the remaining contenders.

I'm remembering only "Let's dispel with (sic) the notion that Barack Obama doesn't know what he's doing. He knows exactly what he's doing...blah...blah...blah."

And I'm not remembering it because it's his most famous gaffe. I'm remembering it because he's accusing BHO of treason.

Eff Marco and the tricycle he rode in on.

And they wonder why the base is so crazy.

Now he's got the time to go back to the Senate and vote on the new Supreme Court nominee!

On a serious note, the guy's young and reasonably articulate, if awful for me and most dems. He may ride again sometime in the future.

What goes around comes around. He dumped on his mentor, JEB Bush, and in the end that betrayal did him no good.

Dumping on Jeb won't help him if he tries to run for something else in Florida, such as for Governor.

There's a scathing story in Salon that notes Marco's "college" football career and personality. Apparently, he's a giant fan and was a huge a$$hole in the locker room.
