Are there any signs of mites or fungus on the underside of the leaves? If it was overwatered, it will come back. Just trim the black parts of the leaves.

Combination of less light and less humidity is never good for house plants.
Thanks for the input.
@jerseyjack - I don't see any clear signs of insects or disease. Just a few signs of stress from having been moved around (house move, then painters)
Misting is one way to raise the humidity level. Another is to place the plant on a tray with pebbles and add water to the tray. Keep the water level below the pebbles, this way the plant won't be sitting in water to get root rot.
May be it is of lack of humidity that can cause leaves falling off rubber tree plant.
Update: It's lost a number of leaves, but it's also now getting a good amount of new growth. Perhaps the plant had been traumatized by the moving process?

My 6-foot tall,12+-year-old rubber plant is losing an unusual number of leaves. As you can see in the photo, the leaf tip starts to blacken, and eventually the leaf dies. The plant was moved to a new location about 6 months ago. It probably gets a little less sun, but not much less. The air is definitely dryer, though. Could those factors be the cause? I'm pretty careful about not overwatering, although a neighbor may have overwatered once or twice a couple months ago. Other than about 5 blackened leaves, the rest of the plant looks okay. I'd really hate to lose this guy, since I raised it from about 36 inches!
