Roseanne cancelled!

I just saw that her show was cancelled because of her horrible tweet insulting Valerie Jarrett.

ABC is owned by Disney.

Here's what Roseanne tweeted

From CNN's Frank Pallotta and Brian Stelter

Barr is notorious for tweeting about pro-Trump conspiracy theories and other controversial topics. This week she repeatedly attacked prominent Democrats.

In one of the tweets, she wrote, "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."

Barr was responding to a comment about Valerie Jarrett, a top former aide to President Obama. She later deleted the tweet and tweeted an apology to Jarrett and "all Americans."

Serves her right. She's lost her damn mind.

She is repulsive. And even if you holds such views, how do you air them on Twitter for the world to see and risk your show. So she's repulsive and either stupid and/or drunk to boot.

Wow!  That was so fast I got whiplash.  "Roseanne" was, I believe, the number one comedy series on network t.v.  When I saw Roseanne's tweet earlier I thought perhaps she'd been hacked or something; the Valerie Jarrett comment didn't make sense. I should have known better.  Methinks Roseanne may have been emboldened by Trump's blessing, so she went full out Stormfront for all to see.  She says she's quitting Twitter.  Someone should have told Roseanne that, like Facebook, Twitter is connected to the internet too.

Not sure who produced the show and if it gets picked up by some other network as a cheap way to fill programming.

Plus I wonder if any one affiliated with the show will sue Roseanne Barr for loss of income due to her racist tweet.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of her co-stars refused to work with her again. We'll have to see.

Can't wait to see what the right-wing reaction to this will be.

I just read that her agency has dropped her too.

She disrepected the national anthem some time ago.  The right-wing should be glad that her show is cancelled.

I don’t watch much network tv, and have not seen or followed the reboot. The cynic in me assumed her ratings weren’t that great, but I’m glad to see that I was wrong, they actually canceled a show that was doing great in the ratings. More often than not you can just about get away with murder so long as you are bringing in money, but today that was not the case.

This is a good outcome but I don’t think that SOMA can be very smug about it as long as this can go on:

I am missing your point.   Who was being smug and who are you to paint all people from SOMA with the same brush because of an isolated incident?  we can still criticize racism when we see it and still know right from wrong.

Nobody ‘s being smug here...

Just a discussion among neighbors...

I didn’t say anyone specifically was smug and I agree with you that all expressions of racism are wrong.  I hope that the local issues are sorted out the same way Roseanne was.

Because the picture of her dressed as Hitler holding burnt human-shaped cookies fresh out of the oven wasn't quite bad enough.

I know it's not the point, but why was she talking about Valerie Jarrett anyway? Do most Trump supporters and Roseanne fans even know who Valerie Jarrett is?

 Whatabout......

I wonder if Trump will jump in and defend rb and say something like "well she is african american and she did live in Iran", or "why the heck did they fire her, I say that stuff all the time"

Because Fox News / fellow travelers are still campaigning against Clinton and Obama.  It's kind of bizarre actually.

 Read the chain of tweets:

The problem with MOL is that inevitably, someone will decide to highjack a post and comment about nothing that has to do with the post. This post was about Roseanne being canceled and not the local woman losing her sh!t via YouTube.

Roseanne, if you follow her on Twitter or have viewed her tweets, is a huge conspiracist. She, like Trump, engages in lies and underground info and because they both are celebrities, she can pawn the lies off as credible.

Still trying to get why calling VJ a Muslim and an ape is funny? I have a pretty good sense of humor and simply don't feel the funny in that. But we should all patiently wait for Trump to tweet about how fine of a person Roseanne is, if he hasn't already.

Well logical consistency is always relevant.  Here’s to the ouster of Roseanne and Stephanie!

Wish she were more like her character on the show who made friends with her Muslim neighbor and has a mixed-race granddaughter.

I don't know about the other cast members but I doubt Laurie Metcalf or John Goodman have to worry about finding work.

a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.

Really is that the best you’ve got?  Why don’t you quote Walt Whitman while you’re at it?  The quote doesn’t even make sense in this context, or maybe you meant to be meta-ironic with that cliche?

What do you think of the outcome for Roseanne?  Good?

it's completely relevant.

I have a lot of thoughts about Roseanne.  One is that it's a little strange to hire her in the first place, given her history of, let's call them racially-insensitive tweets. So now they're shocked, shocked that she would do such a thing!  But I think the Walt Disney Company and ABC did what they had to do, and I'm sure the president of ABC Entertainment was personally insulted by Roseanne. So good for them.  They don't want Roseanne speaking for them and spewing racist tweets.  I do wish there would have been some way to fire only Roseanne, keep the show on the air, and not affect all the people who work on the show, and the people at the network who were counting on the show to help their business.

Agree, but think they needed to move quickly. Somebody somewhere is probably pitching a spin-off starring the sister or someone else, if not to ABC then to Netflix or Amazon.

Yes I agree, they should have known better in hiring her.  And it sucks for the others on the show who have done nothing wrong, especially the people who didn't already have major work outside of this show.

It's also a shame for the people who believed in her message otherwise.
