Rescue Squad Update

Walked by last night and the new sign was lit.  It looked pretty proud on on that building.  Nice touch.

Do we have an ETA for the Open?

(wrong thread)

The last few remaining big items are the exterior concrete, driveway, curb and brick paver work which is scheduled to start Tuesday morning, and the pouring of the epoxy floor for the garage and hallways (which should begin once the exterior work is complete). Then there are some punch list items and  inspections prior to being able to obtain a TCO. So... we should know more in a week or so but I'm hoping to start to be able to move in about 3 weeks from now.

Like best with sign light not turned on.

Looks like a nice facility for squad.

Add to your punch list, that storm drain in the sidewalk-ramp is 4" or more above street grade where all the other storm drains are.  It will not be very useful where it was placed.  IMHO.  Get them to fix it now while it is still a punch list item.

Where are all the bricks going to go?  Seems most of the area was poured in concrete.

They will be going in the area directly in front of the front entrance and the walkway to the side door. (Where the stones/ cones and temporary wooden walkways are in the picture below).

The building is 99% complete and the paver bricks are one of the last items... but we have had trouble finding blank ones to match the engraved ones that are the exact same size, shape and color.

That should be worked out by Monday but in order to reduce the amount of blanks we need to order, we're going to offer WITHIN THE NEXT 3 DAYS ONLY one last chance to purchased engraved pavers (bricks) at an extremely reduced price

You must order by midnight Sunday night / Monday morning (4/25) to get these prices.

(We may sell them indefinitely and replace the blanks with engraved ones as we go, but if we do that that... it will be at the full price. This reduced-price offer is to just to get as many ordered by Monday as possible to cut down on the amount of blanks we'll need to start out with)

Please spread the word if anyone wants to order... again: orders must be placed by Sunday night so that it can be processed Monday morning for engraving.

Prices:

4" x 8"      engraved brick paver   $30   (normally $150)
8" x 8"      engraved brick paver:  $60   (normally $250)
12" x 12"  engraved brick paver:  $150 (normally ($500)

** add $10 to each if you would like logos, artwork or clip art **

TO ORDER:

Go to southorangerescuesquad.org/rebuild

IMPORTANT: Although you can pay by check, credit card or paypal, you must select "pay by check" to get the discounted pricing. (The credit card feature will automatically charge the full price).

To pay by Credit Card or Paypal:
1) Select "Pay by check", and complete the order
2) After you submit the order... go to www.paypal.com
3) Click "send" at the top, and put in the email sorescue@verizon.net
4) Select "friends and family" and follow the instructions to send in the $. Please indicate in the memo section that what it is for.

More updates on the actual grand opening/ dedication ceremony will be coming soon.

Thanks,

Dan

I guess I should have ordered 30 bricks with one letter each.

You still can, Rob.

Yep, looks better with sign light not turned on.  Having said that, I can see how the overall building design was done, to a large degree, around this sign.

Still like it better turned off -still prominent, but looks better.

I find this sign, and all the design decisions based on it, highly unfortunate, but for a volunteer organization reliant on contributions, perhaps this was a necessary evil.

I'm a snob and like the understated elegance of the firehouse.

We are happy to report that this weekend the South Orange Rescue Squad moved operations to 62 Sloan Street. We are working under a Temporary Certificate Of Occupancy until the last few remaining items are completed (the final order of engraved pavers was shipped on Friday and should be installed within the next week or so).

Once that is done we will have a grand opening/ dedication ceremony, so standby details regarding that.

A big thank you to all who contributed to help us complete this project. As always we could not do what we do without the ongoing support and generosity of our community.

Everything looks great!

Four+  minutes would have been nicer.

And if you had started in a sepia tone or black and white, accompanied it with maybe a John Williams score, that would have been art.

This - crap.

Edited to add -  cheese  cheese

Okay I'll be the one to ask. Are the plaques and engraved bricks installed? Where's my name?!!!!

Plaques, bricks and tiles are installed...aside from a few stragglers who placed their brick order AFTER the deadline. Those last few bricks (and a few replacements for ones that arrived broken) will be installed next week.

The good folks at the South Orange Dunkin' Donuts have graciously offered to provide free refreshments to all those attending the grand opening and open house.

Please thank them when you're in there buying your coffee and doughnuts.

If you plan on attending please RSVP here so that they know how much food to prepare:
