Replacing large sun-room radiator, and re-balancing

I was excited to see online that rebalancing steam radiant heat can be done fairly simply on one's own. we have some serious dead spots... I wonder if anyone has tried it?

Also, I have got to get rid of the 68 inch radiator in the sun room. It's insanely hot, and the rest of the house is cold if we adjust for that room, even with a fan on to expel some of the heat.

Should I get a new cast iron unit? or should I get a used one that is smaller?

If I go with used: I have found some on Craig's list, but if anyone is renovating and has one more locally (that IS NOT CRACKED, obvs.), then, please let me know!  I'm thinking bout 40 inches long would do the trick.

TIA!

Before you start replacing you may gain some basic knowledge about steam heat that should help you here: https://forum.heatinghelp.com/

Good luck.

I have two radiators I just removed that you could look at.  Rebalancing is easy, and heating help is a great resource.

Okay thanks for the lik.  But  I know it needs replacing, because the 68" unit was installed before any insulation was put in, and there were no storm windows. then either.

Google "Steam Thermostatic Radiator Valve" (TRV).  Get a Plumber to put one in.   We put one in on a room which was frequently overheating after insulating the house.   A lot easier than a Radiator replacement.

Thanks for this!
