Quicken alternatives?

Quicken tends to suit my needs, but it seems like every year or every other year I have to upgrade because it stops updating properly with my accounts. Is there anything better? I just hate having to upgrade to make a feature work. I don't think I need Quickbooks.

This is exactly the problem I have with Quicken -- it has a time limit and will stop account updates until you upgrade to the newest version. Haven't found a suitable alternative yet, though, so I'm interested to hear the other responses to this. (I use it for personal finances, not business).

I've been a Quicken user since forever - my first version was DOS-based - and I've been looking for an alternative for several years. The replacement has to be a desktop app and there just don't seem to be any viable candidates.

wave looks pretty cool, but I really want to try to maintain the categories and tags as well as the history. But overall wave looks great - quicken could learn a few things from them.

I'm on phone with them right now - we'll se how this goes! (I may need to send them my file for upgrading...)

Well, in the meantime I need Quicken and will upgrade. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up on pricing - on the Quicken site Home and Business 2017 is $119.99 - I've seen it discounted $10 on there also. On Amazon - I'm picking up the download for $59.54.

Check out moneydance. I am thinking of using it but haven't gotten far with it yet.

Maybe you are better off with Quickbooks. Quickbooks Pro can be gotten for $150. I have it and buy ea new version every 3-4 years. A version has always given me 3 years of updates and fixes. But, you can use it longer.
