PATH train early Sunday

I'm heading from my home in Manhattan to Newark early Sunday morning. I plan to take the PATH train either from WTC or Christopher St and get off in Newark. According to the schedule, there is a train leaving WTC at 7:30 and arriving Newark 7:55. Is this likely to be reliable? I know not to rely on NJT train punctuality lately.

I have a singing gig at Christ Church in Short Hills. I plan to take my bike on the train and ride from Newark to Short Hills. I have to be there at 9am. The NJT schedule doesn't fit, hence this plan. Plus I get to ride my bike, plus-plus, I get to save money.

I find the PATH train to be very reliable. No comparison to NJT. No guarantees, but I think you can have a high degree of confidence that path will be on time.

Thank you, @Smedley. If it's a few minutes late, I'll be fine. Google maps says it will take me an hour to ride to Newark, but I'm sure I can do better than that.

but won't you be all sweaty for the church?

Maybe, but the jacket will cover my shirt, and the robe will cover my jacket.  smile

WTC and Christopher Street are on two different lines.  Be sure to go to the station that will get you a direct ride to Newark.

@joan_crystal, on weekends, as I'm sure you know, they take a different route. I could walk from home to Christopher, get on at Christopher, go into and out of Hoboken, and change at Journal Square for the train to Newark. Or I could ride my bike to WTC and take the train straight from there. I think my departure time would be the same, and I think I'll feel safer taking one train rather than two, so I'll probably do the WTC thing.

The distance is about 10 miles which is manageable in less than an hour but it's supposed to be over 90F on Sunday. I'm not sure how hot it will be in the a.m.

wunderground says it will be 73º in the morning, for what that's worth. I should be OK. I ride a lot.

allow enough time Tom, on the weekend the trains from Newark to Journal Square all go via Hoboken, takes a good 10 minutes more

In case it wasn't clear, I based my plans on the published weekend schedule. The schedule said a train departs WTC at 7:30. I got to the platform about 12 minutes early, and the train was sitting there. It left promptly at 7:30. I think it got to Newark right on time or very close. It was the right choice for me. I got a few nice rides in, I got to my gig, and hey, I saved a ton of money, too. It was nice riding through the areas I used to ride through when I lived in New Jersey. Though the contrast of what life looks like between Newark and the other towns (South Orange, Maplewood, and Millburn) is striking. The city, the properties, and the physical health of the people are in not so good condition in Newark, and they are visibly excellent in all cases in the other three towns.
