Pat Kivlehan, a Rutgers graduate, was called up to the Padres last night and hit a monster HR in his second at bat, followed by a single.

Nice story.  He was a great HS football and baseball player (St. Joe's) but opted for football in college.  He played defensive back for RU.  He asked the baseball coach if he could try out for the team in the spring of his senior year, his last season of eligibility.  After not playing baseball for four years, he ended up being the Big East Player of the Year and was drafted in the fourth round by the Mariners in 2012.  He's been tooling around the minors for a few years and was traded to the Padres this year.  Now he's made it to the show!
