No concrete suggestions except to ask whether your nephew has yet reached out to Deloitte U.S. I ask because I know for a fact that Deloitte does these types of stints often - I assume your nephew is a Deloitte employee in Denmark - and they probably have excellent resources for helping their folks to transition here.
It is difficult to believe that a major multinational company like Deloitte would not provide assistance for an employee in this position. Tell him to ask.
yes, this should all be handled by Deloitte including paying for a licensed realtor, fees, etc. No need to do any leg work. And $2500 is way too low for a decent place in heart of NYC for a professional couple.

Our 28 yr old nephew from Denmark will be in NY working for Deloitte for 2 years starting in September. He is looking for apartment for him and his girlfriend only in Manhattan with rental budget of $2,500 to , $4,500.
