Norton Identity Theft Protection ?

My Norton anti-virus program has been renewed and I'm being offered Norton Identity Theft Protection for no cost. Norton Identity Theft Protection includes Cyber Monitoring to detect illegal trading of my personal information, real time alerts to help stop identity theft and a one-time report detailing illegal use of my identity over the last 8 years. To register, I have to provide my personal information including my social security number.

Should I sign up?

Thanks.

eta - Norton is offering one version of its Identity Theft Protection at $149.00:

Consumer Reports says that buying identity theft protection is not necessary (although I wouldn't be buying it.)
