No Water - Plymouth Ave.

No water on Plymouth Ave. Looks like bottled water for brushing the teeth.  Anyone else?

None here on Midland Blvd. either. Good thing it's raining?

None on Burroughs Way

Nothing noted on NJAW website

None on Essex Ave.  I turned on the tap and it made a hissing sound, and then nothing.  I was panicking that something was wrong with our pipes, I am SO relieved to see it is a system issue and not something with my house.

No alerts listed on NJAW.  I hope my husband doesn't have to use baby wipes instead of a shower before going to work tomorrow. His partner isn't going to be happy sitting in a truck with him for 12 hours if the water isn't turned on in time.  oh oh

I just called NJAW.  There's a water main break on Union Avenue somewhere.  No estimate as to when service will be restored.

I'll tell my husband to break out the cologne  zipper

Water out here too on Richmond Avenue.

Still have some water on Park Rd. in Maplewood, but it looks like iced tea coming out of the faucets.

We have a slight trickle of water now.  Better than nothing, but it will probably take an hour to fill the toilet, and we have one of the low flush models.

Still no water at 3 am!

If not restored by daylight I may have to use the emergency water we have been keeping on hand since hurricane Sandy. It should be enough for a flush or two. LOL

still no water by Clinton School.....

I'm on Elberta Road.  Just called American Water and listened to automated message that said there was a water main break on Oakland Ave.  Estimated repair time is 7 PM.

Sorry I meant Oakland Road.

Got an alert saying major water main break Oakland Rd. and North Terrace.  Have not checked my water yet, but bets are my shower and laundry are not happening anytime soon.

The view looking up Oakland from where Kensington ends at it. I asked the NJAW guys there how long this would take and they said "all day."

Water pressure is very very low  (Hilton Area)

Nan, did you sign up to receive alerts? I had to call NJAM to get an update on repair time (it's still 7 pm), but it would be nice to get a phone alert or text with the latest. BTW, there's no alert for Maplewood on their website.

Just signed up for phone and text alert by going to the "My Web Account" tab and selecting "Alerts" from the drop-down menu.

Just got the email that the pool is close today.

Alerts I received by email are from the town, not NJAW.  You can receive them by signing up for Nixle on the MPD website (alert that went out in the early am today) and breaking news on the town website (alert went out later in the morning).  Pool closure alert was breaking news from the town.

That's really helpful. Thanks, Joan.

tapinto.net:  Water Main Break in Maplewood - Updated

https://www.tapinto.net/towns/...

The Township of Maplewood has advised that there is a water main break affecting vicinity of Oakland Road and northeast portion of town Prospect Street to Boyden Avenue. The estimated time for repair is 7pm today. As there is more information the Township will update as information is received.

Both the Recreation Department and the Township have announced The Maplewood Community Pool is CLOSED today due to the water main break, until further notice.

I drove near the site today, -a LOT of equipment there. Also at least three opened gushing fire hydrants in the area, -presumably to divert/relieve pressure while they are working.

Yes, I get the alerts.  There is little water trickling out of my faucets and water pouring down my street.  They have opened up the hydrant-perhaps to relieve pressure?

Taken earlier today, after main line was shut off

Wow.  Those people across the street really planned ahead!

Just received an email alert from Nixle that repairs have been made and water service is being restored.  No mention of boil water restrictions.
