Newborn present ideas - $100

Simone's co-worker just gave birth to a baby boy.  The company would like to buy something for the occasion - $100 budget.

Any ideas are appreciated!

A diaper bag is a welcome gift.  You should be able to find one within this price range.

A single malt scotch for mom?

Do they have a registry?

We’re not aware of a registry.

gift certificate for a personalized book (with the baby's name)...you can order the book directly also, but i think if they order it, there may be more things they can personalize it with.  The one I looked at was about $45 if I remember correctly.  you can add to it to make it $100....

swaddlers and that giraffe they suck on are popular, but they may have a lot of that already....the books are not traditional shower gifts and they likely don't have things like that

if you are willing to think ahead to the 1st birthday, one of my favorities was 'captain zoom' happy birthday song personalized with the child's name

So hard to know taste, especially with a business relationship.

Rather than an outfit or something very taste specific (as a mom of three girls who hated pink/purple/ruffles etc I know this first hand), how about a bin (like the rope baskets on Amazon, they have some with a painted bottom) filled with “clean” baby bath products (honest company is one I know of off hand, I think they even sell them at Costco), some neutral cotton onesies in assorted sizes, socks, washcloths, baby towels.

Everything functional, including the bin which could be used to hold blankets, toys, books etc. Or it could all be put in a tote bag (like a boat and tote from Llbean) personalized with the baby’s name.

Another idea is a personalized blanket with the baby’s name and birth date.

Something to take into consideration is the family's living situation. If they live in a house with room to store things, you could put some neutral basic clothes in larger sizes in the basket like shh mentioned. The basket is a great idea. And I remember how often we were buying the next size of onesie as our daughter grew.

If they live in, say, a small apartment, maybe a small basket with a couple of bath items, then a gift card for Carter's. The gift card would come in super handy in about a year when the child has outgrown all the baby gift clothing. And not take much storage space.

This gift basket is what my Rotary club sends to members with newborns.  https://www.kidsmebaby.com

All great ideas!  This is something we just remembered from shark Tank which seems like a cool idea:

Also - liked this one, but sold out:

Coupons for disposable baby diapers.   Not particularly fancy, but very much needed.   A baby blanket is also good.

As noted above, a lot depends on the parents' situation.  Plenty of space, or limited?  Likely to have no problem accessing the necessities, or limited there too?

Personal favorites:

- Baby blankets from Berea College crafts - soft and beautiful, durable, also a good cause.  https://www.bcshoppe.com/search/baby/

- For an add-on, "baby paper"!  This is the only toy i've seen the really little ones love.  Universal rave reviews from people i've given it to.  It crinkles!  It's washable!  The tiny ones can hold it, chew on it, won't bonk their head like a rattle.

Finally, my sister's rule:  no clothing under size 6 months, they just go through it too fast.

As someone who is still using her LL Bean monogrammed tote from the 1980s, I am big fan. Get the baby’s monogram on it and the child can use it to take its own children to the beach some day!

True story. I got my kids LLBean backpacks in preschool with their names, then again the next size in elementary school. My 24 year old uses both. They don’t make them like that anymore! She and a 26 year old friend were both using their red llbean backpacks this spring.
