OMG yes!!! Flowers is a disaster!

Flowers MUST be benched, if for no other reason than to give him a wake up call. Put Beatty in, he can't be any worse, hell, I couldn't be any worse and I'm a senior citizen.

Flowers' poor play has got to be a big part of the reason Eli's having such a poor season. He's allowed the 2nd most QB disruptions of any LT in the NFL this season. It's hard enough to play QB in the NFL when you have confidence that your LT has your blind side covered. This year, Eli can never be sure what's coming from behind.

Don

With all of the sophisticated analytics that football teams use now, there's still an incredible stubbornness about admitting that a first-round pick isn't performing up to expectations. I'm not even sure that Flowers is a lost cause. He has physical tools. A change of position and/or some intense coaching might make him a contributor in 2017.

However, leaving him where he is now might cost the team what has turned out to be a promising season. And there's no way he'd still be starting at left tackle had he not been a first-round pick.

ml1

leaving him out there could also get Eli maimed

vermontgolfer

And just for good measure, he pushes the defender into Eli.

McApoo (my sister's name for him) really needs to hire an Offensive Coordinator!

And our esteemed Governor apparently doesn't like his hairstyle: http://nypost.com/2016/12/13/chris-christie-takes-out-cowboys-rage-on-ben-mcadoos-haircut/

Chris Christie is giving fashion advice? Seriously?

Anyone who wears a polo shirt tucked into pleated pants shouldn't be criticizing anyone else's appearance.

yahooyahoo

Flowers is pretty bad right now. He could cost the Giants a game or two down the stretch.

Michael

Take the cowboys out of the equation (who have a much better record than predicted) and the number changes dramatically.

Giants have a really good defense, a great receiver and an average QB. Defense can take them to the SB.

they overlooked the fact that the Giants have the second highest "strength of victory" at .546. (Only the Bears, with only two wins are higher at .556). Overall, the Giants have had the fifth toughest schedule in the NFL so far this season.

ml1

that was a month ago. I doubt it holds true any more because they've beaten Cleveland and Chicago since then.

yes. But the loss to Pittsburgh doesn't enter into the strength of victory calculation

Train: I love you, but ... Despite their record, I think the Giants are an incredibly mediocre team.

That may very well be -- I haven't boasted. Just reveled (the T.O. photo) in beating Dallas, while the opportunity presented itself.

p.s. Nice having you visit, and I always respect your opinion. That'll be a one-day suspension, my friend. ;-)

I'm baaaaaaaaaack!!

Train of Thought

Say what you want about this year's Giants, they finished 7-1 at home, already giving us season ticket folks our money's worth, imho.

vermontgolfer

Another good game, though could have done without the wind and rain at halftime.

I know, right? Was so mild and comfortable in the first half, then it was like someone flicked a switch and the weather totally turned.

Tough on us old guys! grin

Rooting for Carolina tonight

It worked, but still do not clinch playoff. Win Thursday no they're in.

ml1

it eliminated one more team that could catch them, which is good. A win on Thursday would be great. At this point, I'm pretty sure a win in either of the last two games gets them the 5th seed. Which means little except that if the two wild cards make the NFC Championship, the Giants would get a home game. I hate Thursday games because it always seems one team isn't really ready to play. It might just be my perception, but it feels like Thursdays produce more blowouts than Sunday or Monday. Good news is that a trip to Philly is short enough that the Eagles don't gain much of a preparation edge over the Giants. I assume both teams spend Wednesday night in a hotel, and the Giants just have about an hour longer bus ride.

I still want the division, so rooting for Detroit Lions to win at Dallas, then Iggles at home. Probably not in the cards...

No wildcard team gets a home game, unless both wildcard teams make it to the Conference final and then the top seeded wildcard would get a home game. Right now it looks like either Detroit or Atlanta, who the Giants could get in the first round. Dallas & Seattle will get a first round bye.

What is your question. Both wildcard teams would play the lowest of the four division winners

ml1

it seemed like you were disagreeing with my point that the Giants could get a home game if they and the other wild card made the NFC Championship Game by restating the same thing I just posted.

vermontgolfer

Sorry, missed the reference to the Championship Game, my BAD! That's of course that they have the #5 seed, not #6.
