Most Delicious Food Offering in Maplewood Village

Some of the above 19 restaurants have not been mentioned at all. I'm wondering about Conscious Fork. When they first opened I went in to check it out. I found the menu confusing and I left without ordering anything. Would like to try them if I could get some suggestions.

I left one out:

  • Achari mushrooms at Tandoor Chef

I've seen very positive mentions of it on local FB. Mediterranean bowl (falafel, hummus, quinoa tabouleh, and tahini over lettuce) is supposed to be good, as are the smoothies.

I'm currently addicted to the crunchy Asian salad with grilled chicken at the Maple Leaf. I think the dressing has crack in it.

I am also a big fan of the salmon at the trat.

the salmon at the pub also.

I've posted this before in other discussions, but I think the Trattoria does a remarkably good job on their seafood dishes in general.

These are my family's favorites that we order over and over:

Coda - Hanger Steak, Kitchen Cobb Salad

Cactus Charly (note correct spelling of their name) -  Enchiladas Verdes, Chile Rellenos

St James Gate - St James Burger, Irish Meatloaf

Village Trattoria - Stuffed Rigatoni Bolognese, Drunken Grandma pizza, Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza, Baked Ziti

Not in the village, but ...

Park Wood Diner - Crusted Chicken, Greek Burger (we usually have them add a slice of Provolone cheese), Cobb Salad, Gourmet Chicken Salad, Seafood Lovers ... and others, but those are our most frequent choices.

That sounds really good.  If you have a chance, try their pesto and vegetable...delicious.

I love this thread!  Palmer's wasn't on the list.  If you haven't tried it, their quiches are AMAZING!

Their brussel sprout quiche is insane.

Speaking of Brussel sprouts, the Gate has a delicious appetizer of roasted Brussel sprouts with bacon. And they give you a bunch. It could be a meal.

Why is Brussel sprouts the food that is coming up the most often in this thread? Pretty strange.

from Bob Roe:  I have had lots of really good lunches and dinners in the Village.   But I want to weigh in on two that I have had in the past month that made me smile because it was so good.  1.  Roman Gourmet mushroom pizza  2..  Not in  Village.. but took wife to Verjus.  Food so good it made me smile.

Wow that was fantastic.  Got it take out tonight.  Even take out it held up (yolk even stayed runny).  Everything was perfectly cooked.  Beans are great.  Chorizo, pork, steak, plantains, all top notch.  I forecast indigestion.

But any protein deficiency you may have had should be cured.

Glad to hear someone else enjoyed it, too.

Had the fig salad at the Gate the other night and it was delicious.

Oh man, Sutagao is the best in this cold weather! Any of their soups + a side of yuca frita = our new favorite lunch. The picada colombiana (appetizer assortment) hits all the right notes: sweet, spicy, crunchy, savory.....And the brother/sister team who run the place are so enthusiastic about sharing their food and their culture. It’s just a delightful addition to the town.

Agree on Sutagao, their Cuban is the dog's bullocks.

The Trat: Angelo’s red sauce or meat sauce. On anything. Or just plain with some  bread.

Or just the bread.

Update Re: my comment about Arturo's... Lunched outside on the heated porch there just the other day, devouring the consistently great sausage ragu. Gently noted a possible problem (for the resto, not necessarily just me) to my server: The glassware all looked like either (A) they needed  to change the soap used in their dishwashing contraption, assuming they use one, or (2) they need to get a good one...

I've loved the place forever, and miss Dan's attention to detail on little things like this (grub notwithstanding)...

The vodka sauce at the Trat is the best I've had anywhere.

the grilled cheese mushroom taco at abril cocina is quite awesome!
