Missed Trash Collections -Waste Management

How many others in Maplewood are experiencing missed trash pick ups by Waste Management???  It happened again to me today.  I have to call or email once a month.  Trash cans are not playing hard to get, they are in same location for past 20 years.

I'm frustrated, thanks for listening.

The problem I have with WM, being in the Monday/Thursday zone, is that they skip my pick-up whenever there is a holiday on Monday or Thursday (the only days guaranteed to have holidays).  This means fewer pick-ups each year than those in the Tuesday/Friday and Wednesday/Saturday zones.  Individually, I have not had a problem with WM since they stopped piling garbage bags in front of my house while waiting for the truck to catch up.  Thankfully, that process has ended.  Are you the only person on your block having this problem?  Is their some obstacle or repair work on your property that may be causing the problem?

I live alone and do not generate much garbage.  Some time ago the pickup people tired of coming onto my property and finding little or no trash, and began to empty my trash only upon occasion.  This morphed over time into not coming for my trash at all.  Repeated calls were only temporarily responded to.  Long story short, I felt that for what I paid to the company, they were not giving reasonable service.  They lost my patronage,  Maybe you are experiencing the same problem.

Not missed pick ups but they don't empty the whole can . They did a few weeks before but this is starting again ,

 sorry thought was recycling post

do  they pick up mixed?  that looks like aluminum inside cardboard. i've been hearing something about about a law change and it needs to be separated, but I've always done that.

I know this is a trash thread, but I put all my recycling in paper bags and they usually pick it all up no matter what's inside.

as i said, i think there was recently a law CHANGE, it can't be mixed.  i think aluminum, plastic, glass needs to be in a plastic trash bin and paper put out separately.

when you have aluminum in a paper bag, that is mixed.  the pic looks like mixed cardboard/aluminum.

i don't know if this is statewide, countrywide, being phased in or what, i read an article on Bing news and can't find it now.

Not a law change but a change in the terms of the recycling contract which would have paper and aluminum/plastic/glass picked up on alternate weeks.

I don’t live in MW but I do live in NJ and we still have co-mingled pick up here.  There might be a policy change for the company that does Maplewood’s pick up, but I doubt there was a state law change because we just have one large can of plastics, metals, and glass that our company  pick up

plastic, aluminum, glass can still be in one can, but not mixed with paper according to that article I can't find anymore...it was a few weeks ago.

perhaps this might help to clarify things ... although it's from February of this year

Thread drift - the OP opened with Trash Collections - Waste Management

When we moved to Maplewood, the only option was Waste Management.  To put it bluntly, they sucked.

Once Waste Industries was able to offer service, we switched.  They are much better.

Relevant section:

As far as the changes to the recycling plan go, Mayor Frank McGehee said his goal was to have Maplewood functioning as a dual stream recycling town by next year.

Dual stream recycling, also referred to as source separated recycling, is a recycling system in which the fiber components –– paper and cardboard –– are kept separate from containers, including glass and plastic containers and cans. McGehee also stated that the town will begin having four monthly pick-ups in which paper waste will be collected twice and all other waste be picked up the other two times.

It hasn’t happened yet.
