Rain ending now, with only a chance of light showers over the next 2-3 hours.

Thursday is shaping up as a possible messy commute, with the timing now possibly hitting both the morning and evening commutes with wintery mix. While this is not a bread and milk snow storm, or even a likely shovel event, slick roads and rails, especially in the morning, could slow things down and make the going treacherous.

"Bread & Milk Snow Storm" I had to look it up.

Forecast update:

Thursday morning forecast is on track. Early am snow likely to make for a messy commute, but changing over to rain by mid-morning. Afternoon rain continues, will stay as rain Thursday evening in our area.

Thanks, Max!

Forecast still on track, with the NWS now calling for sleet during part of the morning commute.

The weather is running a little late this morning, with the snow/rain now expected to develop between 7:00 and 9:00. Otherwise, still on track, as any frozen precipitation will change over to rain by midmorning.

I'm so glad I go to work early. Nothing leaking from the sky yet...

Looks like the precipitation was late enough that temps rose above freezing, though there may be slick spots, especially on bridges and up in Newstead. Rain overspread MAPSO around 8:00.

From the NWS at Upton, our local forecast office:

Hannukiah lighting at 5 in Spiota Park. Gonna be a washout?
