Maplewoodstock

  Cold weather company

So, what was the deal with the sign language interpreters? They were incredible.

I noticed there seemed to be a different interpreter for each band. Were they assigned to a band, or did the bands bring their own? They seemed well matched to the performers and really appeared to have a special dancing way of doing sign language unlike what I've seen with straight verbal signing.

I was close to the stage for one performance, and I started to have this emotional reaction to the way the sign language interpreter was communicating the song. It was so effective and genuine. I started to tear up and couldn't look at her without wanting to cry from joy or empathy or something else I couldn't understand. It really had a potent effect on my experience.

It was truly wonderful to add this to the concert. Is signing music a specialty within sign language interpretation? It appeared to be another talent on display at Maplewoodstock.

Completely agree.  I talked to a couple of the performers after their sets and suggested they look for video that shows themselves singing and the sign language interpreter in the same shot.  There were some very powerful moments of singers emoting while across the stage the interpreter was signing just as intensely.

I'm not sure how the signers are matched to the bands- most bands provided lyrics beforehand which helps.

day two - it's beautiful out here!  Shark Hat kicks things off

we have more stage design shirts!  They have a slight defect -missing a line - selling for $10!  Its not as noticable on the darker shirts.

I just ate the very best lobster roll of my life only 12 bucks. The music is great but man the food is terrific

Hip Abduction's bass was stunning. They were aiming for the famous "brown note" at least twice in my book -- a noble endeavor -- but Ruthie was amazing.

If only there wasn't a massive sheet of sponsored cloth on either side destroying my view of the actual artist.

However this was amazeballs as always!

Maplewoodstock was great this year.  The tent/blanket/saving space stuff was out of control, but otherwise great.

The Hip Abduction and Foster was an excellent one two punch.   Last night was much roomier than the night before too.

where does one go to see sbenois's photos?

There was a huge brown tarp laid out in front of where we were sitting on Sunday and it was unoccupied all day.

Great job. The only downer was leaving the beer garden to go to the bathroom and coming back less than five minutes later and the beer garden folks not letting me back in even though my wife and beer were waiting for me. Fortunately Maplewood police was more understanding and let me get my wife and beer.

another incredible event-thanks to all who make it possible!

is there any sort of official estimate of peak crowd attendendance for each day?

Those sponsors are the reason we are able to offer free two-day festival of this caliber.  Please support them and thank them for their sponsorship.  We will see if we can prevent the stage advertising banners from blowing around so much next year.

Please bring that to the attention of one of the Festival Volunteers in the future.  There is so much to do, so we reply on our attendees to bring issues to our attention.
