Maplewoodstock Fundraising

Hey everyone,

We're trying to raise some funds to help offset some extra costs we incurred over the 2 years being off.  Please visit this page:

https://maplewoodstock.com/donate/

In the meantime, I'll be digging through our archives and sharing some clips from past shows- like this one from The Wailers:

We'll also be selling shirts in the middle of town on Saturdays prior to the show - right by Greenway.

Thanks!

The Wailers was my favorite performance of all the Maplewoodstocks I have attended.

Slightly different topic, although it may feed into fundraising to some extent - Are there t-shirt sales this year?  I haven't heard anything.  (I used to be on the list to help with that.)

Jamie mentions t-shirt sales under the video.

@jamie: A few questions regarding accessibility for seniors wanting to attend the event.

Between parking set aside for performers and parking set aside for vendors, will there be a drop off point for persons with severe mobility issues (such as myself presently in a wheelchair)?   Will there be handicapped parking available downhill (assuming senior canopy and food vendors will be downhill this year.  Assuming space has been reserved for a senior canopy as in prior years. (Please advise if this is not the case.)   In the past, the senior canopy has been very accessible but has had no line of sight to the stage.  Seniors are asking if that is the case again this year.

I realize you may not be the best person to ask.  Could you please forward this query of that is the case.  If the correct committee member is reading this, could you please reply as soon as possible so the Seniors Advisory Committee can plan and publicize prior to the event?  Thank you.

Joan, I got your email.  And we're figuring a few things out.  I'll get back to you in the next day or 2.

A past performance from Maplewoodstock  July 8, 2006--

That summer, my guitar playing musician buddy Ken Petersen came from the west coast for a visit and of course we attended. Ken had been mentored by John Lennon and did studio work with the Plastic Ono Band.

He asked me if I thought if he would be able to perform. I responded that performance had been already set up by you and Jim Buchanan.

Upon our arrival, you were wandering around but Jim and Carol were seated at a table. After saying hello to them, I walked away to chat with some friends. Ken walked over to the table and told Jim that he was a musician friend of mine, that he had performed in studio with the Plastic Ono Band and could he perform.

The next thing, Ken comes over and says"I'm going on stage at 7 PM"!!! Jim was going to have one of the rock groups back him .

Ken performed an extended jam version of a song called "the City".

The audience just loved it. Some folks were up and dancing!

You organizers of the event loved his performance so much, it was included in the video of that night's performance. I downloaded it and saved it.

Every year thereafter and for many years, Ken would ask me if I thought whether  you guys would being interested in "flying him" from Oregon in for that summers event.

I never even bothered asking you.

BTW-I was at Woodstock 1969 seated a few hundred feet from the stage

Thanks for the memory - I remember him well.  We were a bit skeptical over his credentials.  grin

I totally remember him. The Plastic Ono Band guy. There's a video of that performance somewhere on YouTube.

Thank you.  Jamaine spoke with Tom and Brad and got back to me.

Here's another highlight from a past MWS:

We're about 30% to our $5,000 fundraising goal.

Thanks to  Allan, Rachel, Anne, Wendy, Joe, Julie, Richard, Marianne, Madeline, Billy, Gina, Dan, Todd, Marco, Amy, Alex, Megan, Maura, Susana & Emmanuelle for chipping in!

If some of you get the News-Record.  You probably got our program, but it had some dates from October 2020.  We stuck an updated schedule in 6,000 programs.

Here's the current line up:

@jamie - Is Maplewoodstock a 501(c)(3) organization? (i.e. are donations tax-deductible?)  I will donate either way, but my method of donation will differ depending on the answer.   --Thx!

We are under Friends of Maplewood Recreation which is a 501 organization.

And thanks to David, David & John!
