Spring Rake Out

Materials to be picked up are limited to branches, leaves, and garden rakings when packaged as follows:

  1. Branches must not be more than four feet in length and tied in bundles that can be handled by one person.
  2. Leaves and garden rakings must be placed in reusable containers (e.g. garbage pales/buckets) or paper bags that can be handled by one person.
  3. ROCKS AND SOIL ARE NOT PERMITTED.

Containers will be left behind if unapproved materials are found in them, or if they can not be lifted by one person.

That is really odd - why would they reverse the #s?

 Matthew 20:16.

Also, Dylan.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'

It WAS a mistake - they'll be fixing it shortly.

I fixed the thread title.  Forget I ever said anything.

Thank you so much for posting this.

That's what I thought of also (but I couldn't remember the chapter and verse.)

Nice that Maplewood does not place a limit on branch diameter (unlike SO, where it’s 4 inches), though the four foot limit on branch length is somewhat constraining. Though not insurmountable.
Last year, pickup started April first in SO. Do manpower issues currently exist in Maplewood?

Bump - Spring Rake out started this week!

Is the image still the same one you are referring to?

If so, I think they reversed the numbers in the legend (from 6 to 1, instead of 1 to 6) to correspond better with how the colors were shown on the map

  • Orange is closest to top... which is Zone 6, so they listed Zone 6 at the top of the legend. And dark green (Zone 1) is closest to the bottom... so it was put at the bottom of the legend.

Then the follow-up question: Why did they number the zones from South to North instead of North to South?

  • I'm guessing the answer is because the South is where DPW is, and they prefer to start at their closest point.

Images on this thread were updated and should be correct.  They had it wrong on their site when this thread started (zones were numbered incorrectly) - their site was updated as well:

Ok. So I guess the current reverse numbering of the Zones in the map legend are a feature, not a bug.  grin
