I still find it a bit unsettling that the "lunch break" coincides with the dismissal time at the high school.
What’s so unsettling about it? I mean, it would be odd if they closed during lunch when kids are streaming into the place, and one could theorize they’re trying to keep kids out for some random insidious reason, but mid-afternoon squarely in between the lunch and dinner crowds?
BTW: Is Maplewood Pizzeria under new management or something? The pizza tastes differently....

Maybe not complete new management, but one of the pizza maker dudes did leave and yes, it's definitely not the same now.

A lot of kids eat food after school, including pizza. I find it odd that they would lock out a large group of potential customers that would help increase revenue during the lull between lunch and dinner.
It may not be in their economic interest to stay open. If the place is packed with students after school, that's great if they are all buying slices and sodas and calzones. If they're just there because they're looking for a hangout spot and not buying much food it's not so great.
My guess would be if they were making money they would stay open. Businesses don't typically leave money on the table, so to speak.
Another wrinkle is the fact that this business got a lot of unwanted attention for how they chose to deal with a student who was sitting there without buying any food. I could understand if they decided to forego whatever revenue generated by the after school crowd to avoid any further similar scenarios.
Tried Sabatino's. Love their salads and will try their cauliflower crust pizza, but Maplewood Pizza is still my favorite for plain pizza.
