Maplewood Man Found Guilty Of Punching, Kicking Woman In Road-Rage Incident

Confirmation bias is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that affirms one's prior beliefs or hypotheses.[1] It is a type of cognitive bias and a systematic error of inductive reasoning. People display this bias when they gather or remember information selectively, or when they interpret it in a biased way. The effect is stronger for desired outcomes, emotionally charged issues, and for deeply entrenched-beliefs.

See:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias

Trolling is not really an emotionally charged issue for me, I argue with them (you) more for entertainment purposes.

Any update on the woman’s condition?

As a woman, I can offer several reasons for not speeding away from a desirable parking spot:

Making a legal phone call, while parked, to family member or friend:

Checking the time for the errand/appointment, next on your to-do list

Taking a scheduled medication

Telling someone you loved them

FWIW, TomR has come to my aid on numerous occasions when my Luddite self needed tech help. He always responds in a helpful, reasoned way. He is one of the long-time good guys on MOL. We do not share opinions on numerous topics, but he is a gentleman. I am shocked, and disappointed at the churlish comments.

do you mean Tom Reingold? He's the tech expert. And TomR is to my knowledge not Tom Reingold.

Also Tom Reingold isn’t TomR who isn’t Tom_R, who is the guy on a 2A rant on this thread.

I'm confused. The article said the woman was "slow" getting out of her car, not pulling out of a parking space but the latter actually makes more sense.

If so, I disagree with you. Considering the parking situation in Maplewood village I find the conduct of someone taking his/her time leaving a parking space while someone is waiting for that space to be inconsiderate to say the least.

TomR wanted to turn this thread into a discussion of the Second Amendment. I'm not sure if I would call it "churlish". It happens all the time.

Maybe it wasn't I who was confused.

Maybe it was me, as Tom_R signs his posts as TomR, so they could be the same person. But they are definitely not Tom Reingold.

Observing a person getting into a car parked in a lot does not entitle anyone to that spot any earlier than the first person is ready to leave.

Then there is the inconvenience to the peeps BEHIND the car waiting for someone to load their car, belt their 3 kids into their car seats, get in the car, check their cell phone, respond to the cell phone messages, then pull out.

Exactly!

proeasdf,

Sorry I bought into the thread drift on firearms. You correctly assess that I am pro Second Amendment; but no more, or less, so than I am of any of our other civil liberties. Beyond that, I sayeth naught, except....

I am not Tom Reingold. Unless mtierney had a problem with a DOS issue, I was probably not the person who helped them. (I miss DOS).

Herr Reingold is, in my opinion, one of the good guys. I believe that it would be anybody's enrichment to sit down with him for a coffee, or a beer.

 Hey Tom_R:

Thanks for checking in and providing your POV.  IMHO, thread drift can be good (when it is natural out-growth of a discussion) or bad (when an individual tries to fundamentally change the thread by introducing subjects, issues or POVs that are NOT even tangentially related).

I agree on Tom Reingold being a good guy.  I have only met Herr Rheingold once in person (appropriately, at a police bicycle auction).
