Low Cost Dog and Cat Rabies Vaccinations

From Maplewood Health Department:  The Associated Humane Society mobile dog/cat van is back on the schedule for Maplewood.   Note that this time around spaying/neutering is not being done.   But low cost rabies, distemper, other vaccines and health care will be performed.   The van will be parked in front of the Maplewood Town Hall on Thursday February 28 from 9am until 3pm.   First come first serve basis.  Contact Maplewood Health Dept. for more information.  973-762-8120 x4400.

Any chance the spay/neuter option will return?

Lots of TNR being done in neighboring towns like West Orange and 3 rescues one from WO, another from EO including mine in SO, bring animals for adoption to the nearby Petco in West Orange. And a volunteer and I are bringing cats from AHS to Petsmart in Milburn.  .

I suggest that it would be popular and I'd definitely put the word out to our local rescues. The spay neuter vans in Montclair are very popular.

Since South Orange chose not to rent the old shelter to People for Animals, trappers and rescues have to travel to Hillside or Newark.

from Bob Roe:  Game of Thrones is one of our favorites and it is still sad to recall that Ned Stark was unjustly beheaded.   No spay/neuter this time around; but I will see what we can do in the future.

In the meantime, please advise all animal advocates and owners that this is still a real good opportunity to get low cost rabies, distemper and other pet health care done.

Thanks Bob, I'll help spread the word. I posted on FB SOMA for Animals page and on my own as well.

And I just watched Season 1 again and still hate the beheading scene.

Now I'm cheering for John Snow and the Watchers on the Wall.

Winter Is Coming!

What's the low cost of a canine DHHP shot?

from Bob Roe:  i will check and post.

Thread drift:  Game of Thrones new season starts in April.  I am predicting that the humans with help from the dragons beat the white walkers.  But who will live and who will die is a big question mark.   It seems that most of the real bad kings and lords are now dead, ("They had it comin.") except for Circe. Most of the still surviving characters are pretty good.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jamie Lannister orchestrate the demise of Circe.

And as John Snow is my favorite character, I'm hoping he triumphs over all. The King of the North!

If, by DHPP, you meant DHPP:

I called AHS to find out if “Distemper”, as described by Mr. Roe, is DAPP (distemper, adeno, parvo, parainfluenza). The AHS person assured me it is.  I didn’t ask her if the adeno component is A1(hepatitis) or A2(respiratory, w/hepatitis cross protection). She did tell me the Lyme vaccine is from Merck. If the DAPP they administer is also Merck, then it’s A2.

Either way, your DHPP is $20, by Mr. Roe’s description above (as I see it).

from Bob Roe:  Bump.  Thank you for the vaccine info.  I did call AHS and they said it was a combined vaccine.

from Bob Roe:   The Associated Humane Society van will be returning on two dates in April.  One day for spaying/neutering and one day for well care.  More info to follow.   Thanks to the AHS for their services
