Local Businesses Adapting to COVID-19 Shutdown

Hi all. I seem to remember a similar thread during the aftermath of Sandy.

Jackie and Son is open for takeout. They are doing cashless transactions only. If you go to their website you can order and pay online, then you walk in and your order will be waiting in a (paper) bag on a table near the entrance.

If it's practical to do so, it would be helpful for restaurants to allow you to pull up and pop your trunk and have them put the stuff in.

Just came back from Millburn Shoprite. Not crazy though a lot busier than a typical rainy early morning.  Shelves not empty but some things missing (no eggs).   Cashiers seem to be in good spirits.

Chris's Texas Wieners had signs up. They're doing curbside pickup. I'll mention the idea next time I'm in Jackie and Son.

Maybe the town could designate some parking spaces in front of restaurants as pickup only zones for the time being. It would help prevent traffic safety problems of people stopping in a driving lane to get curbside pickup. Maybe I'll email Sheena Collum. There will be fewer people using the spaces since restaurants are takeout only.

Puppy Love is open for dog grooming.

Town Hall Deli is also offering curbside pickup in addition to home delivery. They’re open 7 days a week. On weekday nights they’re open until 8:00PM. I was surprised earlier today by a very kind neighbor sending me a sloppy joe because she knew I was stuck in the house. Such a very thoughtful thing to do!

Just received an email from Verjus- they will be doing a takeout menu. You can order between 2 and 6pm, for pickup or delivery. Check their website or Facebook or Instagram.

Words Bookstore is shutting down public operations. No events, no shopping in the store. You can order online and they are trying out free delivery within a 2 mile radius of the store. Regular delivery charges apply outside that radius.

I got an email from Sherwin Williams. They're offering call-in orders and curbside pickup now to minimize contact.

Sonny's Bagels is open. They're limiting the number of customers inside to three. Call ahead if you want curbside pickup.

A coffee shop in my town has you standing in line outside. Your order gets taken and paid for, someone inside puts the order together and it’s handed to you at the door, without you ever going under a roof or getting within a few feet of anyone but the cashier. A friend said it worked beautifully yesterday and helped her family feel almost normal for a few minutes.

Jackie and Son is doing takeout and delivery.

For takeout you csn order and pay online. They put those orders on one of the tabltables as. They have the door at the corner propped open so you can walk in and get your food without touching the door handle.

Maplewood Karate is closed, but we are streaming classes live 10 times a week  over 60 on demand classes and inside classes limited to 6 for members, taking on new students by popular demand. Structured class or PE class for home schooled. for info on classes go to maplewooddojo.com and fill out the contact us form. Uniforms delivered to your door step.

We had to use SignupGenius to reserve a timeslot for a viewing at a funeral home in Springfield. It was very surreal, especially given the celebratory theme of the website.
