Last Jedi Trailer

I had higher expectations for the trailer. The previous ones were better. But it does look fantastic. If Kylo also kills his mother (as suggested), can he turn back? I still think Kylo and Rey are twins and Leia/Han didn't know there was a 2nd baby. Brother- sister as good and evil makes a cool set up.

I woundn't be surprised if there wasn't some intentional misdirection in the trailer with regard to Kylo/Leia and Kylo/Rey and perhaps even the Snoke/Rey interactions.

I'm ready to find out though. Got my tickets already!!!

or, what I thought was that perhaps the story line had to change with Carrie Fisher's death and they had to have her get killed. Using Kylo to kill her while on some other path of destruction would cement his move to the dark side.

I think it'll be interesting in the coming years, after all the story lines play out, to hear the impact her death had on the storyline

While misdirection is always possible and present, filming was largely or totally completed before Fisher died and the producers said that she would have been a key part of Episode 9.

There's some speculation that for the original three stars, each was going to be featured prominently in a movie. Han was the center of TFA and Luke is the center of TLJ and Leia was meant to be prominent in the next one.

I'm confused by your statement. If filming was complete yet she would have played a big or any part in Episode 9, then I'd imagine re-work of 8 had to happen, no?

This makes me incredibly sad and disappointed.

Anyone see it?  Please - don't post spoilers here!

yes and it was beautiful visually and emotionally. Needed a slightly shorter run time but otherwise a damn near perfect movie.

You must have seen a different film.  All of the faults of Force Awakens were amplified in this movie.  Stupid plot with poorly developed characters. Poe Damron's status as a super pilot is just annoying.  I did enjoy some of the parts with Luke but the rest of it was dreadful.  Better than Phantom Menace but....

(ETA: The porgs were cute)

That said, I am sure my six year old will love it.

I’m with conan on this one.

Also, I’m kind of in love with Rose now.

Well, I sure would like to see the movie you guys saw.

Just out of curiosity, how did you guys feel about Rogue One?

Did anyone else notice the minor female character with the very large nose?  It seemed like they were going out of their way to linger on her profile.

Maybe it was just me, I was sitting in the front row.

Loved Rogue One. Maybe a bit more than this one as a movie but for fantastic movie plus nostalgia, this one wins

I loved Rogue One, too.

But then I also really enjoyed Force Awakens, so I’m not going into part two of a trilogy thinking the first had a stupid plot with stupid characters. Generally, if I think the first film sucks, I don’t bother with the rest.

I can't wait to see it and I'm taking my cat.

I also loved Rogue One. I didn't hate Force Awakens but I thought it was flawed. I had hoped that this movie would temper some of those things but instead it accentuated them.

I don't know, maybe it is just different strokes for different folks. I have kids so I am in for the whole trilogy whether I like it or not.

My five year old and eight year old both enjoyed it.

I can't say much, as I had a hideous headache that excedrin only halfway fixed, so I lost track of parts and I don't know if it was the film or just me.  For the most part I liked it, but there were some scenes that did leave me wondering why they did what they did.  And there were a few parts that I was kind of itching for them to get moving.  Again, might have been the headache so take that with a grain of salt

And unrelated to the film, we missed the start time due to the snow and traffic (it took and hour and a half to get from Maplewood to Rt 22!!!), but the people at AMC were very nice and transferred our tickets to a later showing, which they didn't have to do according to Fandango policy.
