Kings is closed

Happened to be in town today and noticed the sign on their door that they closed Dec 5 (last Saturday).

Know there was talk about this when the construction across the street replaced the old post office.   Guess Covid however was the final stake in the heart though.

Phantom.  It sounds like you missed all the Kings chatter the past several weeks.

Kings closed because the parent company declared bankruptcy and most of the locations were sold to Acme but the Maplewood location was not included in the sale.  There was no buyer, so the store was closed.

guess must have missed it alright.    Acme.   they also snatched up select branches of A&P when they went under (Maplewood again didn't make the cut either and is now the CVS).
