Joh Chau just won a 2018 Darwin Award.

Now that's pretty entertaining.

He earned it.  I just hope the islanders don't contract any diseases from his body.  It is common for uncontacted peoples to suffer mortality rates of 50 to 75 percent when they are exposed to diseases from the outside world.

Oh is that the guy trying to bring Jaysus to that tribe in India?

What is this all about?  Who is Jon Chau?  What did he do to earn a Darwin Award?

John Chau - American missionary.  His goal was to bring Christianity to the Sentinelese - inhabitants of the restricted North Sentinel Island in the Bay of Bengal, I believe.

So, he bribed some fishermen to take him  to the islands.  On his first attempt to kayak to North Sentinel Island, he was wounded by arrows and retreated to the fishing boat.

Undeterred or perhaps, not taking the hint, he made another attempt to land and was killed by the islanders  and buried on the beach.
