Glad to learn someone is moving into that space. It has been vacant far too long.
Looks like it's cleared out - nothing being constructed as of yet. I did get confirmation that a tenant was found, but they're not ready to publicly announce who it is yet.
but I think it's ok to tell that it doesn't duplicate any type of business currently in the village to my knowledge

Just that "Village" section or the entire township?
So it's not:
Did I miss anything? That was from memory.
Your memory of the south side of Baker Street is a bit behind the times. Sadly, no more No. 23. Happily, you can add an art supplies store, a gourmet food shop and a men’s clothing boutique to your list.
There is also a shop that sells feel better products that may include hemp on Maplewood Ave and Inwood.

What was No. 23?
I should have said art supply store instead of paper and stationery store.

So it's not:
- A bookstore
- A nail salon
- an optometrist
- A bakery
- A gift/knick knack shop
- A self-serve frozen yogurt
- A realtor
- An ice cream parlor
- An overpriced Italian restaurant
- A moderately-prices Italian restaurant
- A Thai place
- A pub
- A Coda
- A hair salon
- A train station
- A community theater
- A Methodist church
- An architect
- A movie theater
- A pizza joint
- An indoor golf range
- A florist
- A paper goods/stationery store
- A fish market
- A grocery store
- A bank
- A Starbucks
- A coffee shop
- A diner
- A barber shop
Did I miss anything? That was from memory.
it is none of those

I thought your No. 23 meant Truly Yours, whose space is now the gourmet food store.

Where is there a paper goods/stationary store in the Village? Maplewood Stationers and Truly Yours are both gone.
A clothing store, an art supply store, a gym, an event space, and several stores selling toys can be added to the above list of current businesses in the Village.

I was thinking of the art supply store. They also have some stationery-type stuff.
Where's the gym?

Where the toy shop used to be.
So, so far, Nobody has said it is not Bernie Sanders, New Jersey campaign office going in there.

it's an apiary/art gallery/public living room/law office
Art gallery/art class space and law office are already in the Village. The 10 birds that have resided in an apartment in the Village for many years (apiary???) are presently looking for new homes. Would the Woodland qualify as a public living room?
What we no longer have in the Village, besides the Stationary Store which previously occupied the space in question, is a pharmacy. The presently vacant space would be a good location for one.
There's an M.D. on Maplewood Ave in town that consults with patients about medical marijuana (among other services).
An apiary is a domesticated bee hive. Go figure.
Joan I agree with you about the pharmacy but I don't think the market favors stand-alone pharmacies any more. They can't compete with something like CVS or Walgreen's, which operate more like a small department store. They also have much more convenient hours, whereas a small pharmacist-owned business won't be open from 8 am to 8 pm.

A Democratic candidate spending money on a primary headquarters in Maplewood would be a very inefficient use of money.

Maybe just a locked bin with a deposit slot for cash then. They could put it where the drive through mailbox used to be.
Hardware store? Shoe store? German beer store with large pretzels?

Hi, Joan. As ridski notes above, ml1 was making sport of the kinds of ideas that were floated for the old post office building by supporters of keeping and rehabilitating it.
