Ipod Nano Screen cracked screen - where to fix? (Anyone use the place in the Livingston Mall?)

Two teens, two broken Apple products.  One is a 1 year old (of course) ipod Nano with a cracked screen that seems to work well otherwise, and the other is an Iphone 6 that went swimming and is currently sitting in a ziploc bag with rice.

Before I take them to the Livingston Mall, is there a better option?  Anyone with a good/bad review of the Livingston Mall place?

Thanks!

the place in Westfield is very good. The Device Shop.

As for the swimming one, it's likely gone.

Changing the screens is a fairly easy deal -- and any tech person who has changed more than a few should be fine.  The issue with using a quality place is how they handle the screw-ups.

And agree -- the one that was immersed in water is probably finished.

Alcohol can displace the water without ruining the circuitry. Try that.

I'm finding it impossible to find a business that will fix the screen on the small, Nano ipod.  Anyone out there willing to do it?  Apple wants $100, which is nuts, since a new one is $149 and this one WORKS, it just has a cracked screen.

Will Apple let you trade in the broken one for a new one? I know two people who've done this with iPads at a significant discount. Cheaper than getting a brand new one. They'll fix it sell it as a refurb.

That pretty reflects the labor cost, which is close to the value of the ipod, but that fact doesn't reduce the value of the labor. So unless you can get trade-in value for it, yup, I think you have to eat the cost of a replacement.

I've seen groupons for less than that; you might want to check if there are any current deals.

Keep in mind that there is a risk of getting your stuff back and it won't be the same, it'll be imperfect in some way. I busted an ipad screen a few years ago and had it repaired rather than getting it replaced, which turned out to be a big mistake -- ate battery about 3x as fast, one horizontal stripe area wasn't really responsive, and one of the corners was a little puffed out and it clicked when squeezed.

A former colleague of mine, whose tech opinion I greatly respect, told me it's never (or at most very rarely) worth it to repair electronics.

About a year ago I cracked the screen of my laptop and Tan Max Computer on Springfield Ave fixed it.  Did a great job and the price was reasonable.  I've not had a single problem since.   Good luck!
