Insulation

Just had all the steam pipes in the basement redone and now they need to be insulated including the wall cavities. Any recommendations for a company or individual who does this type of work?

rhw,

It's not that hard to do if want to it yourself.  Home Depot has fiber glass insulation steam pipes plus the tape to wrap the ends as necessary.  Or maybe a home handy man would do it for you.

I found these links on MOL with some info about it.

Thanks RCH but fiberglass, even in small amounts, causes bad skin irritation for me.

Foam pipe insulation is also available.

The foam pipe insulation is for water pipes, not advised for steam pipes.

Go to a plumbing supply store, they can give you 1" thick FG insulation.  The stuff at HD is worthless.

Use gloves and a dust mask to protect yourself, if you're irritated by it.

Based on that information, he is not going to do a "do it yourself." So back to his original question for a recommendation.
