Inconsequential Chat

Old, but worthy of another run -

THE QUERY

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slowdown in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery apps, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled some of my other apps, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, and then installed undesirable apps such as NBA 5.0, NFL 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1.
Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and House cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems but to no avail. What can I do?

Signed,

Desperate.

........

THE RESPONSE

Dear Desperate,

First, keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter the command: Ithoughtyoulovedme.HTML and try to download Tears 6.2.

Also, install the Guilt 3.0 update. If that app works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1. Please note that Beer 6.1 will download the Snoring Loudly Beta version.

Whatever you do, DO NOT, under any circumstances, install Mother-In-Law 1.0 as it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.

In addition, please, do not attempt to re-install Boyfriend 5.0. That will crash Husband 1.0.

Husband 1.0 is a functional app, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn other new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional apps to improve memory and performance.

Try Cooking 3.0.

Good Luck!!

Tech Support.

Do you know when a joke becomes a dad joke?  When it’s apparent.

An interesting way to effect a key change in the middle of the piece.

He's a very impressive guitarist, too!

Beautifully played, and yes that change is so elegant and skilled!

Here’s a more traditional version, also fun:

Unfortunately, the hand-held camera is a bit disconcerting, but you (we) still get a good look at some sulphur-crested cockatoos.

"That reminds me of the Tom Jones Syndrome."

"Is that common?"

"It's not unusual."

Yep.

Doubly so, because I suspect I may have already posted that image some time in 2019. (I thought it looked familiar. Went looking, and found it in an image collection I created that year.)

Somebody - on another board - was discussing the Goon Show, and how we all used to tape it when the show featured on AM radio back in the 1950s, 60s and, sometimes, later.

Now, it's available as a 24-hour stream from some sites.

Found this one in passing - http://www.abacusradio.com/abacus_goon_show.html

Arachnophobes beware!  It's not pretty gossamer netting strung across the countryside - it's spider webs!

Floods in south-eastern Australia have driven all manner of animals, insects and spiders out of their usual home and forced them to find higher ground.

The gossamer spiders, which normally live underground, have spun their silken webs and taken to the air to escape, leaving the ground covered in what appears to be very fine netting.

I'm fascinated by this! And I love spiders.

Didn't miss it by much ... but, in this case, a miss is as good as a mile.

If you have youngsters in the family, and they haven't watched Bluey yet, go and find a couple of episodes and watch the program with them.

This is a good article about the show, too.

Oh, and while I'm at it, if there are expressions you don't understand, then ask away.  I'll be happy to answer, as I'm sure @joanne will, too.  You may have to tell us which episode the expression you're asking about is in, so we can answer in context.

While I'd love to walk it, I don't think I'm fit enough right at this point to attempt the Larapinta Trail, which is in central Australia.

I'll drool over the pictures instead -

This is a very interesting article - admittedly a couple of years old now - on taking better photos using your smart phone.  The comments are good, too.

That Wednesday Wombat is sooo happy-looking! The fairy wren is gorgeous, all that blue - and the other birds are breathtaking.
