I was notified by Amex who is well aware of my spending habits. Some large quantities of strange items like night vision glasses struck them as odd. Less unusual would have been charges at Petco.

The transactions were not consummated so I guess no deductibles or copay's
They acted upon seeing an unusual spending pattern on the part of a card holder

My partner last night receive a call from PNC bank security. Her credit card had been compromised and 5 attempts were made to use her credit card without her permission. PNC caught them because they were
larger amounts than usual and they were all wireless directed at overseas clearing houses
They of course cancelled the card and are issuing a new one
She can remember only one local market that she used which had an old fashioned credit card machine
which probably did not have to read the chip
That is twice over the years PNC has caught fraudulent activity for us. I recommend
