Icy Conditions this morning, high wind gusts, possible snow Saturday

With temps in the 20s all day, roads and walks are likely to be icy. Take care walking and driving, allow a bit of extra time. Remember, 4 wheel drive helps you go, but it does not help you stop!

Windy today, with 30+ mph gusts likely.

From the NWS:

"Residual snow and slush will remain frozen toady, as temperatures struggle to reach the mid to upper 20s this afternoon. As a result, untreated surfaces will be very slippery, and extra caution should be used while out and about today. In addition west winds will gust to 30 to 40 mph today, these could bring down branches and power lines weighed down with any frozen slush."

For the weekend, a weak clipper system will come through from the Great Lakes Friday night into Saturday. At the moment, it looks like an inch or two of snow followed by rain. Will keep an eye on that.

Also keeping an eye on a coastal storm that the models have well offshore on Sunday. Not much of an effect the way things are showing now, but with the tendency of everything to cut west this winter I know the NWS will be watching this one, too.

Schools closed again today due to icy conditions.

Heavy snow squalls right now in Liberty Corner. Apparently worse just NW of here.
