How to dispose of old air conditioner
If it is a window / wall-thru unit, Maplewood DPW accepts it - leave it on the sidewalk opposite the main dump site (in the office they will tell you exactly where).
I know you’re in Maplewood, but for people from South Orange who might have the same question the DPW takes them on container days.

We called Waste Management to schedule a pick up of an old and broken air conditioner. They don't accept items that contain Freon and suggested that we bring it to a land fill. But Maplewood doesn't have access to a land fill as far as i know. What have other people done in this situation?
